Part of Besac has been revamped as an upscale restaurant, quite nice ambience, serves fish from skadar lake. Still has the wine exhibit and lookout point on the second floor.

On arrival in Virpazar, the view over the lake and surrounding mountains is magnificent. The dark, rugged peaks reach from the green lake to the soft clouds and the hillside is dotted with grey stone houses. We were short on time so decided to climb up to Besac Castle, appreciate the spectacular vista and enjoy a spot of lunch. We paid 1 Euro each to enter the castle, which was worth it just for the views over the lake.

When you cross the bridge at Virpazar you should take the road up the hill. After 250 meters there is a signpost for the fort. The road to go is wide, so if you want you can also go by car. Still, the walk is beautiful. There is a thick pine forest around and the view is amazing. Entrance to the fort is 1 euro for adults and 50 cents for children. It is open during the season from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Next to the fort is a small exhibition space that represents the history of the fort and this area. The view from the fort is great. Without hesitation, I recommend visiting this place.

Came up up get a view of the lake, but somewhat limited on that front, ruins are minimal, but good to hide from shade and get a few pics!

It’s not a long walk but is a bit of a haul up the hill so don’t do it in the heat of the day. Ideal walk first thing in thee morning or for sunset. The structure is interesting and has been restored but the majority of the information is in Montenegrin, however there is enough information in English.

Nice walk up to the fortress and at 1 euro entrance fee, good value, the place has been rebuilt and will take half an hour to complete, good leaflet is provided for information purposes. Throughout the different rooms there are air conditioning machine oddly placed in the floors and some loud dreadful musac pumped around sqauky speakers which is unnecessary in what could be a very peaceful place to be and admire the views around

I visited in October and they were renovating the place. I expected it to just be ruins but there was a man on the entrance collecting one Euro from every visitor - a good price to see the fortress and pleased that the money is going to its restoration.

If you're in the village of Virpazar then it's a 15 minute walk up hill to get to it. The views from the top are good with a panoramic view of the lake.

15 minutes walk uphill from Virpazar brings you to the fort, which has been extensively restored in recent times. We paid 1 Euro entry fee and had a wander around inside - not a great deal to see in terms of historical or architectural significance but fantastic views over the small town of Virpazar, Lake Skadar and the Montenegrin mountains. Just about worth the climb and entry fee.
