Monte Piana is an historical and fascinating location to hike in the Eastern Dolomites. Site of a violent front in WWI, there is much to see at this desolate yet beautiful mountain peak.

I can't imagine there are many more perfectly preserved WW1 battlefields than Monte Piana. It's incredible and moving to walk around here - pick a good day however as the views to the mountains all around are magnificent.
