Travelling first by minibus I was a little alarmed at the provision of cans of oxygen and additional coats by our driver. The signs as we transferred onto coaches to reach the cable car starting were also cautionary about the dangers of altitude sickness. I felt well prepared as I had been taking medication to prevent the effects of being up so high. The cable car ride is very steep and quite long - 8 minutes in good weather but can be much longer in poor weather. We arrived at 5,600m where the snow was in stark contrast to the blue sky. The ascent to the highest lookout is only 180m but took me nearly 30 minutes. As a pretty fit person I was surprised at how breathless I became however by slowly taking about 12 steps, waiting a few minutes for my heart rate to settle, a big swig of oxygen and then onwards I was able to make the final lookout. Views are awesome! I would recommend keeping some chocolate or similar in your backpack just to give a little energy. There’s also the option to dress up in local costumes and stand with a stuffed yak for photos.

Dear Ben Thank you very much for your review posted at our page. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the most southerly snowcapped mountain in China. It is famous for its variant and beautiful natural scenes, and is considered a sacred mountain among the local Naxi ethnic people. It is also a popular hiking destination in China and the view while you are there at this snowcappped summit is always undescribable according to all our tourists who had been to this mountain and we are so glad you had experienced it. If you need any assistance for any other tours in China in the future, do contact us as we are always ready to be at your service ya. We wish you all the best in your life ya. Do take good care. The snow peak that is clostest to the equator thats is 365 days with snow permanently. The jade snow mountain is at 4506m above sea level is well served by a cable from Lijiang side. Well deserved a visit and see the surrounding especially with a visit to Blue Moon Lagoon and the Impression Lijiang show.

The mountain is always covered with snow and fog, so that it resembles a silver-white dragon from a distance, hence its name. The summit of the mountain can be seen from the Old Town of Lijiang. The Cableway to Glacier Park was great. This is the most popular cableway in the scenic area. It is one of the highest elevation cableways in China. It can take you up to experience the glacier and its surroundings. Once you get off the cable car, there will still be stairs for you to climb to reach a higher peak at an altitude of 4,680 meters (15,354 feet). This short climb is difficult, but you will be rewarded by the beautiful panoramic view. Our female guide, Angie, who was assigned to us from World Heritage Network's tour operator, Rorne Tan, was very helpful and friendly. She showed us how to rent a winter coat and where to go to the entrance to the cable car. There are a lot of local chinese tourists there and I don't we will ever find our way if we didn't engage a guide to guide us there. After all the hassle of pushing our way through among the crowded chinese tourists and waiting at the long ques at the cable car station, we finally reach the top of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and it was very cold there. You felt like you are at Switzealand walking on ice with snow. We spent about 2 hours enjoying our trek to the summit and fact in a slow pace while enjoying the great scenic white view of the mountains. We had a great time at this mountain! Do visit this mountain if you are in Lijiang.

Do not recommend - tickets are very expensive, and main memory of the day was queuing among thousands of domestic tourists. In addition, the Blue Moon Valley looks gorgeous online, however upon closer inspection, it is clear that all features in the river (e.g. various waterfalls) are all man-made and out of cement. Felt more like Disneyland than going to a natural park.

Dear Stephanie Thank you for your review posted at our page. We trust that you did this tour on your own and may failed to see the beauty of the snow scapped mountain called "Jade Dragon Snow Mountain" at some special secret spots. The scenery at Blue Moon Valley will be beautiful if you go on the right season and not all structure there are man made. As this mountain is so beautiful it is not surprising that it has a lot of local chinese tourists to visit this attraction in every season. Perhaps in the future, if you are able to take up our guided tour to this mountain, we are very sure you will not be disappointed. Thanks again for your review posted at our Page here. If you need any service from our network on your next trip to Yunnan, please contact us again. Do take good care. Cheers! Best regards Rorne Tan Director of Tour & Marketing WORLD HERITAGE NETWORK
