“Wanagiri” comes from the word “Wana” meaning forest & “Gili” meaning hill. Thus, the simple translation is “The Hill of a Forest.”
A trip to Wanagiri Hidden Hills is not to be missed as it is the best selfie spot in northern Bali. It is located at Wanagiri’s highlands in Munduk Village. It is also not far from the iconic Handara Gate. My partner & I went to the Handara Gate 1st. Unfortunately, the queue was so long that it prompted us to skip it & head on to Wanagiri Hidden Hills instead.
There are many locations for you to choose from for that selfie post. However, each location offers different fee structure. Some offer FREE entrance fee but you have to pay for the usage of the prop. Others charge an entrance fee & there is no charge to take photos with the props. They are usually open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Scout around before you choose the best location. There is no public transportation though. So, it’s best to rent a scooter or a car.
You will be thrilled to find the props as they are pretty amazing for that insta-worthy photo. Most locations will offer the famous Bali swing. Ours had the Bali swing, a wooden boat, a large realistic looking bird nest, a hanging Weaver bird’s nest, a sunflower, a butterfly, a heart-shape bamboo sitting area, a large platform & a road that stops mid-air.
Depending on the location that you choose, the props will face both Lake Buyan & Lake Tamblingan or just 1 lake. Lake Buyan is the 2nd largest lake after Lake Bratan while Lake Tamblingan is the smallest. Both are separated by a 1 km rainforest & are known as the “Twin Lakes.” Unfortunately for us, we chose the wrong location & weren’t able to see both lakes separated by the rainforest. We could only see one of the lakes but the view was still very beautiful, peaceful & definitely took our breath away. The expansive lake was a dark shade of blue which was a contrast to the dark green forest & tall mountains. The bright blue sky was also very clear. It was definitely a panoramic view.
One staff was very helpful & accommodating in taking our photographs. He was also very patient & knew which shots would look great.
We obviously had a tough time leaving. Just go! You won’t regret it.

The nests and swings are setup against the nice background of lake and hills.
Tickets costs 100k IDR for taking pictures. The 2 swings at this place were only for taking pictures and not swinging.
If you want to experience the swings also then there is another 350K IDR tickets. But these swings are at a different location somewhere nearby.
We went around 11 a.m and not many people were there. But slowly with time more tourists started coming.

We visited Wanagiri hidden hills during our North bali tour. It was not what I expected.. While the view facing the lake was really breathtaking and the friendly staff will help you take photos, the actual place was really small and seemed like it was intentionally built for instagrammers..Ticket was quite expensive in my opinion but just once is enough if you like to take photos for Instagram.

A hugely overpriced (100K per person) viewpoint on the lake below. A few "instagram" structures (open hand, heart benches, etc.) to attract tourists taking pictures. There are plenty of vistas along the road that offer similar views for free.

While Hidden Hills offers similar photo opportunities to the famous Bali swing, it feels like a less polished copycat. The backdrop of Lake Buyan and the mountains is undeniably beautiful, but the overall experience lacks finesse. The afternoon sun position made photography challenging, casting harsh shadows and forcing squints in most shots.
The various photo props - from nests to swings and heart-shaped frames - feel hastily constructed and less maintained compared to other similar attractions in Bali. While the entrance fee is cheaper than the main Bali swing locations, you get what you pay for. The staff try their best but seem less experienced with photography.
It's an okay stop if you're passing through the area and want some social media shots on a budget, but don't make a special trip just for this. For a more polished experience, stick to the original Bali swing locations or spend your time exploring the actual natural beauty of the surrounding area.
Pro tip: If you do visit, come in the morning to avoid shooting directly into the sun.

This place have offered me a very romantic ambiance, though it was raining when I visited the place, so I couldn't enjoy taking good pictures. Still, the view was astonishing because of the foggy effect. The staffs were kind and friendly, we were the first visitor who arrives there and they offered free coffee while waiting for the rain to stop. Check the weather first before you plan to visit the place.

While we got some excellent views of lake Banyumala from here, this place is no more than a few feet in width and length. There are probably 5-10 photo stops and a couple of swings. We found the entry fee of 100,000 IDR entry price (no discount for kids either) a little high for what was being offered. One great thing here though is that there are a lot of staff to help take the pics and videos with the appropriate guidance. They too were shocked though at some of the poses my son gave :).

We went to this place in the evening. We did not go for the pricey photo tickets. The view of the hills hidden beneath the clouds is something I can describe in words.
We enjoyed the view for sometime and took photos at locations which were free.

Unfortunately, we have been fooled. You pay 100,000 rupiah for a nice view. You have this view a few meters to the left and to the right as well. You only pay to take a picture in a boat, a heart, bird's nest or swing. Superfluous as far as I'm concerned.

I had a fun time at Winigiri Hidden Hills. The view of the lake was stunning. The staff was very helpful to take photos of my choice. There were many other swings nearby but I would recommend this one as a to do item
on Bali visit.

Hi,
How safe is your swing? I know of other swings in Bali that were built for safety, including a net underneath the swing. What have you put in place to ensure the safety of your structure?

Hello again! Planning to stay at the Udaya. How do I get to Wanagiri Hidden Hill? Google says it takes 1.5hours by car. Do I take Grab? Or Taxi? Rent a car from the hotel? How does this work? Also, since planning to go in Feb, how much does it rain?
Written July 1, 2019
You can take local taxi to get there

Saludos,
Written June 27, 2019
There is a one single payment Rp150k per head, then you can stay there all the time you want, you can use each item and take as much pictures as you can.
Try to go during week day which is kinda empty and not many people so that you need to wait.
Written June 19, 2019
Cual es el precio en dĂłlares americanos por entrar a tomar fotos en todos los columpios. Por favor deme precio en dĂłlares. Por favor haga usted mismo la conversiĂłn.

Hi I will be staying in Nasu Dua how long will it take to get here and is there any recommendations of places to see on the way thank you
Written May 7, 2019
Hi Chrissy good day..
if you go dirrectly from Nusa Dua to Wanagiri you need around 1,5 till 2 hours by car. You will see a few attraction places on the way like Taman Ayun temple, botanical garden or treetop zipline, Ulun Danu temple, Banyumala wwterfall or if you like to see more nature you possible to go to Jatiluwih the massiv rice terrace on sloop of 2nd montain Batukaru.

Hi all!!! Does this place charge for foreigners and how much? Is it worth going with small kids ?
Thanks in advance !!!
Written March 8, 2019
We were charged 100000rupiah. Personally it’s a long way to go just to see some swings and props for Instagram photos. There isn’t much else up there. The setting is beautiful with the Lake as a back drop. Unless you’re going up that way. I think you would be better going up to Ubud, where there are swings and waterfalls etc.
