About
The business is closed until further notice. Sorry for any inconvenience Cafe and Gallery Two original 1928 Red Rattler Train Carriages are set within the picturesque Tweed Valley. Restored to their former glory with renovations to include a gallery space and refreshment area. The Gallery offers beautiful artworks, stained glass pieces and jewellery for sale. Local artists also display pottery, crafted wood works and a collection of unique crafts. Sit down and enjoy the beaut coffee, teas, cold drinks, delicious muffins, cakes and cheesecakes. The cafe is well known for its freshly made scones which people do travel miles for. Car parking with separate motorbike parking, hitching rails for horses and turning space for vans.

Used to go here for a cuppa & the best sticky date pudding in the World! Sadly now closed (as we found one Sunday). Such an original location so the only relief is for my waistline - here's hoping they re-open soon ;-)

A beautiful spot ..delicious carrot cake and awesome atmosphere

Our family loved visiting here! The coffee and cake were yummy and the train cars were cool. The kids lived playing the piano they have.

The only advice I'd have is pick a cooler day to visit as they have no air conditioning anywhere and it gets super hot.

I will definitely be returning!

Great, mini, country escape!
Mar 2019 • Solo
I love this place ... and once a month I treat myself to a 40 minute drive for their great coffee and a huge slice of their mango cheesecake - both very reasonably priced. Most of all I enjoy sitting on the verandah overlooking a lovely, tropical garden. I soak in the solitude and 'peace' of the setting in a tranquil spot. It's not a lunch destination but a place to enjoy the country with a great coffee and various cakes. If you want an hour or so of peace you won't be disappointed. (By the way I drove past Red Ratters on numerous occasions before I decided to call in, and now - it's a go-to point for me).

I was a little disappointed as I had heard so much about it, scones were lovely and fresh, coffee good. Lady working there was on her own & kept busy so hope she has help on weekends.

We stumbled upon this little gallery / cafe quite by accident and were delighted that we did. Friendly service, delicious Devonshire tea and lovely gallery items to look st. The cafe is two old red rattler careiso the stop is a unique way to experience a piece of railway 🚃 history. Highly recommend!

Mother's Day Drive
May 2018 • Couples
We've always been meaning to visit the Red Rattlers Gallery so on a stunning clear day we finaly had a drive there. It's a quaint place where 2 old railway carriages have been converted to a cafe. It was busy as it was mother's day but the staff were still friendly. My scones were fresh and fluffy..very delicious. There's even a play area with toys for the children. Old books, local crafts and board games make it the perfect place to linger.

Unique Piece of History
Dec 2017 • Friends
To the unfortunate few who have complained about this place, you must be very, very hard to please. I have visited the 'Rattler' many times over the years and never found the food too expensive, the lack of a lunch menu a problem, or indeed the exhibits old and faded in the sun; and most certainly have not found the lack of actual art-work a problem. One can only marvel at the attention to detail of this symbolic example of a by-gone era, and to the thousands of hours that must have gone into restoring the carriages and presenting such a compelling, iconic scenic attraction. The doubters can stay away, but I would thoroughly recommend to everyone else, a value-for-money trip to the Rattler to sample the great food, coffee and general family-friendly relaxed atmosphere. Smell the coffee, as they say!

Best milkshakes
Jan 2018
Went here on the weekend with a group of motorcycle riders. On the menu I spotted a SPEARMINT milkshake. Haven't had one since I was a kid (long, long time ago). Could not pass it up. Absolutely delicious. Great milkshake!!!
