Good Reminder
Oct 2021
A reminder of better days, thanks to Ballyclare council. A fitting memorial to the late Prince Bira of Thailand (d.1985). Unfortunately, some local defectives have sought to deface the display with felt tip pens. Utterly disgusting. Pity public flogging isn't available.was

Looks really well when driving through Ballyrobert and great that you can climb all over it - could do with lights to see it in the dark

Amazing car. Lovely to sit in the garden with an ice cream, on a good day, watching the world go by.

About time
Sep 2017 • Solo
It's good to see public art that is appropriate and relevant to where it is sited.
My father used to tell me about the races around the triangle and watching the Greats of the day. Now we have something that shows that part of Ulster's motor racing heritage on what was the original course. The quality of this piece is excellent and the Council are keeping the surrounds in good order. This is what we need more than abstract, irrelevant "balls, jugglers or whatever. Worth a stop and research the background.

Taking the wheel.

I visited again, and this time climbed aboard. The sculptor, Skelton Rainey, was very clever to make the car big enough for people to sit inside. Its more than something to look at, you can occupy it. This idea of scuptures you interact with can also be seen in his very ambitious piece Mayfly, in Glengormley. It is a fairly accurate recreation of a famous biplane, but it doubles as a kids' climbing frame. Ingenious.

I'd like to see Sketon's name added somewhere. It has been omitted from the display board at the site. The car itself could use a scrub - green stuff is starting to grow on parts of the outside.

Have been driving past every day since this was installed without being aware of its significance. Lovely piece of artwork which is well kept. Needs light up at night.

A lovely display set on the corner of the Longshot Road. Why its there is beyond me but makes a nice display set among the flower beds. Pass it every day and never tire of looking at it. Great piece of art.
