Plenty of parking, a bar and a restaurant make this a hiking or driving option and a good place to stop for a break. Read all about the history of this dramatic spot on the signs, stroll in the woods, visit the church, or see the untethered horse that crops the grass in the vicinity!

Wonderful views over Alájar and beyond from the Pena, and better still if you take the 20 minute walk to the top of the hill, from where you can see the sea off Portugal in the distance. Well worth the walk!

Not easy to describe an arch , the area to me was quite special, the panorama, the remoteness and solitude were just wonderful, returned a second time to experience again and was rewarded again.

Most people that visit here go to the bell tower but what they miss is the wonderful spiritual relaxing area just up on the slope behind them. There is an old tree which gives a lovely quiet shady area from where you can indulge in the peace, admire the view and indulge in the fresh air and the silence. I’ve visited here regularly since I was 13 years old. Yes the bell tower and the view down onto the village and across the mountain trains never fails to disappoint- but that beautiful little quiet retreat area is what this place is all about. I found that little seat for the first time this year- it was lovely and perfect for a quiet meditation if you are into that.
In the winter months it is equally stunning and very quiet, in the summer months there is even a little bar - visit the beautiful church too. If you are in aracena- you just have to visit here- you will be glad you did.

A peaceful spot to stop and enjoy the views. There a couple of walks from here and the bar does good tapas. Can be busy at weekends but still has a nice atmosphere.

Interesting and not to demanding circular walk from our hotel in Alajar. Take some water and food if required.

Beautiful views of Alajar and the surrounding area - a cafe and church are also located here. A welcome break after a walk to the higher point.

When you arrive at La Pena you feel on top of the world.
It looks out across Alajar and beyond.
Extremely relaxing as well as being awe inspiring.
The adviser to Phillip 2 made this his retreat to get away from the politics. You can see why.
Truly amazing.

Espero haberte ayudado.
