I had planned to visit Labyrinth Rocks, however, my accommodation hostess in Takaka intimated that The Grove would be a better option... I wasn't disappointed. A couple of years' ago, I visited Whitecliff Boulders near Mangaweka which is amazing but the Grove Scenic Reserve is something else! Limestone blocks draped with tentacle-like roots of Northern Rata and sculpted into amazing shapes by water. Lots of Nikau palms there too. Well worth the journey!

Before we visited we were told it's a 10-15min short walk so didn't expect much. However, we found this place under-rated! It's actually a must-see reserve in Golden Bay. Unique rock formations and vegetaions!

A lovely scenic walk through the bush featuring some lovely rock formations. The lookout at the top is spectacular.

It may only be a short walk (30 minutes or so) on a circular track, but don't let that make you think it isn't worth it. It is actually an amazing place winding your way around these tall rock formations and canyons. And then the lookout platform at the end is incredible with stunning views to the ocean and beyond.

It's free and easy to get to, so is definitely worth a visit.

One of the best short walks in the bay with a wonderful surprise reveal through the cliffs at the end.

Really short walk of only 30 minutes. The rainforest and rock formations are fabulous! We had great fun running around, exploring , nice and cool under the canopy of trees, amazing rock formations and a little cave. A must visit!

What a fabulous walk this is, quite a small walk but it is up hill but really worthwhile making the effort to get to the top and see the views. The rocks and the trees are beautiful.
