I have thought about going to this camp for several years. It looked like a great place to learn more about Gold Prospecting. I didn't really know what to expect , so I booked a stay for one week. I arrived Sunday morning and by Monday I knew I would need two weeks to explore all the activities that the camp provides. I took in as much as I could with the dirt piles and digging up in Ceasers. Finding Gold is hard work but exiting. The sight of that shinny Gold Nugget is beyond words and makes every bit of the sweat to find it worth it ,ten times over. I will be back next year . Roaring camp is everything you could ask for. Thanks Rob for taking me under your wing and showing me what you have learned over the years at this camp. Neal Your stories , your love of people is something I will always remember. Ricky and Kim thank you for all your hard work to make this trip one of my best mining trips so far.

Words cannot express how much fun my family and I had at Roaring Camp Mining Co. We just spent a hard worked week working in the dirt digging around rocks. The sun was hot and the river was cold, but it was so much fun learning about the history of the camp and the family. It is run by the family and they all make you feel like you are family while you are there. Kim, Ricky, Tammy, Peter, Keith and everyone else we encountered made our week there very memorable. We got to get right in there and use the different machines and tools to find some gold. We did pay for a gold bearing pile and had a blast sifting through it. I was addicted after that and had to get in on the action up on Ceasers. My kids had the most fun running around with the other kids and jumping in the river. We caught a couple Rainbow Trout and had them for dinner. Such a Paradise to explore. I can't wait to go back again. I'm already having withdrawals. 20/10 would definitely go again.

If you do decide to go to the Roaring Camp Mine make sure you are at your check in spot on time 9:00 am because you are driven down into camp by the staff of the camp. It’s a fun journey back in time with a story for every marker (11 in total) This is a wonderful place to hit the pause button on life and enjoy the beauty of nature. The family and employees go above and beyond to make sure you have the time of your life. I give this place a 10+++ My family and I had a blast. This is camping at its finest. There’s no phones, TV just great people, nature and, panning, sluicing for gold, or floating down the river and if fishing is your thing there’s that too!! This camp has something for everyone including horseshoes, corn hole and games. In the general store. Each morning they give a demonstration on how to mine for gold IE: whisbang, panning, trommel, or use a sluice box on the high bank or you can pay for a pile of dirt and watch gold appear before your eyes!!! If you love nature and good fun with a great group of people then this is the place for you!! We will be back every year. Thank you all for such a memorable time!!! The Bias Family 🙂

Such a fun day at Roaring Camp Mining Company! Our day tour started with a ride on the truck down to camp. The drive was fun with narration by the guide; our guide shared much history about the Gold Rush, as well as about the geology of the area. Once we got down to camp, we had a short walking tour around camp, then were free to have lunch (trading post has burgers, ice cream, etc.) before panning for gold! Rest of afternoon was at our leisure; due to the heat, we spent most of our afternoon swimming in the river. Bring your own inner tube if you have one!

Roaring Camp has it all when it comes to a great week for the whole family. It combines the best of camping, swimming, fishing, hiking, and of course... prospecting for gold. The one thing they don't have is distractions. WiFi is non-existent and never missed. We stayed in a one room cabin which was plenty big enough for our family of four and one dog. My wife and boys spent most of their time floating and diving in the river while I was high and dry looking for gold nuggets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the week flew by so fast that booking for 2 weeks would be my advice.

On a trip over from the UK and was told to do this by my boyfriend who lives in the area. We went for a day trip to try out gold panning and while I was sceptical at first thinking it was for kids, I had such a good time!
Mike (our gold panning instructor) was very helpful, knowledgable and patient on gold panning. He had to show us on multiple occasions how to do it (it's harder than i thought) and was always happy to help. There were guys there who visit the camp every year to do some gold panning and they were also happy to help and show us some tricks! The little truck also made for a fun experience up and down the mine. You can buy lunch there or bring your own and have a little picnic along the river. Such a fun afternoon.

I'd like to tell you about a special place I've returned to every summer for the past 43 years! I meant to write a review many times but with trepidation and I'll tell you why...First I want to mention that as an avid salmon fisherman in the Monterey Bay' many times I would get on the radio to inform other friends where the fish were biting and we were close to limits. Wouldn't you know it but within 15 minutes we would be inundated by 20-30 boats, tangled lines and the bite would be over. So that's why I sometimes shy away from telling the world about where I like to spend my summers. Now back to my summer hang out...Roaring Camp Mining Co, on the north fork of the Mokelume River. This place is family run and they go out of their way to ensure all experience the grandeur of their canyon with excellent fishing, hiking ,rock collecting, and did I mention that there is gold everywhere if you know how to find it and are willing to do some work. They offer gold panning lessons and even have piles of dirt dug directly from their mining operation available for those who arn't able to do any crevicing or prospecting on their own. I've never been disappointed from what I recover from those piles! I've enjoyed camping with many of the same families who return year after year and have watched their kids grow. This is a special place. The quality of service is unsurpassed. If you don't want to cook your own meals, they offer meals at the Trading post to include burgers, pizzas, hot dogs , chicken, and many of the camping supplies you forgot to pack. There is no electricity in the cabins but they offer freezer space to store your food, and have ice for your coolers. On Saturday nights they have a steak bar'b'que to include fried potatoes, salad, corn and wait till you try their fried bread! Overall this place offers the ultimate in relaxation especially if you are near the river where the sounds of the water rushing over the rocks can contribute to your inability to form complete sentences. I stay at least two weeks and as I leave the canyon I realize I want more. The restrooms and showers are always clean. And yes, the rainbow and brown trout fishing is wonderful...but you'll have to find your own spot ;>). I'm so looking forward to next year...only 347 days 21 hours 32 minutes and 19 seconds.

I just loved it! There are so many things to do:
fish, pan for gold, play in the river or just read a book! It was nice being away from technology for a week! The Saturday Night BBQ (included if you stay for a week in the cabins) is awesome! I can never have enough of the fry bread!!

I have been Going to Roaring Camp for the past 18 summers. The campsite is great with cabins or tent space to rent. The River is my favorite part and it is flows from North to South right through camp. There is swimming, fishing, floating, and there are plenty of opportunities to find gold if you look. How many campsites in this world also have gold just waiting to be dug up? The owners are like family and take great pride in making sure everyone has a great time. You can bring your own food to cook and there is also a Trading Post on site that offers lunch and dinner if you prefer. I developed a slow leak in one of my tires in that I noticed was flat the second day in camp. Ricky, Keith, and Mike fixed it This made my stay all the better because the load was taken off my mind. That's just an example of how they go out of their way to make your stay is exceptional.

It's hard at times to get the entire family together, away from online distractions. Roaring Camp was the answer! 3 generations of my family went To Roaring Camp for our first time this year. We came from New York and California. This was an amazing trip and a wonderful experience.

We planned this trip for a year and the Roaring Camp family was so helpful the entire time. I was flying with some family in from New York and we needed to have tents and sleeping bags shipped to the camp. Roaring Camp made the process so easy.

We checked in up top, and Kim conveyed us down the one lane dirt road to the bottom, and our camp sites #7 and #8. Everything is clean and tidy. Many bathrooms and showers, all well maintained.

We flew in, so many things we did not have. The Camp gave us chairs to use, a coffee pot, 3 cost, all without being asked, they just saw we needed things to make our experience better.

Some key things stand out. The other campers were SO FRIENDLY! IN talking to them you find out they have been coming every summer for 11 years, 19 years, even 30 years. Very telling is the children still come through their teens and into young adult. One of the campers was pointing at a group of young 20 year old adults and saying he knew them as small children. Take away here is families keep returning together for this experience.

My 12 year old grand daughter who did not want to go on this trip, complained once because there was no cell signal, and then forgot all about it as she began to explore the camp and the surrounding area. One day into the experience and she was laughing, smiling, enjoying her cousins with cell phone forgotten.

We were here for the Saturday cookout , and that was fun and delicious. Steak, potatoes, and fried bread were excellent. We were saying the fried bread would be better with sugar on it, and minutes later one of the other campers came back with a baggie and sugar, and we shook it up and enjoyed. My oldest daughter spoke at the cookout, thanking me for the trip, but also thanking everybody staff and campers for how friendly they were being to our family. Special thanks to Kim and Tammy for making all so much fun.

Our last full day and night was the whiz bang and the poker hands for the gold. We had 11 family members, and 2 made it to the finals. We didn't win, but we were smiling , laughing and clapping. A camper named Brian won the pieces and Zoe won the black sand. My point here...after 5 days of camping we knew their names, and we were new friends.

It was very hot, and the ice cold river balanced all off. My grandkids floated the river and jumped 100 times off Sacrifice Rock. We've got the memories, and now they all want to go back.

Gold...we got a little. When we go again, we will rent a whiz bang, and work that. Moves a lot more dirt. Funny...my sons in law and I spent probably an hour talking about how we could improve our gold mining. That's family bonding time I will never forget.

Would we recommend to a friend? Absolutely! Will we go again? Yes definitely.
