Not sure what the other guy is talking about, because I had the time of my life here during a 4 night stay with 11 other friends in early November 2019! Everything was great! Jody and the staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating! My group split up between 3 boats, and every boat had a great time. In total, the group of 12 released just over 300 fish during 3 days of fishing! That doesn't count the 220 lbs yellow fin tuna or all the mahi mahi that we brought back to the lodge. The crew even prepared fresh caught sushi on the boat for us to eat. The boats weren't brand new, but you wouldn't expect that down in Central America. Each boat was more than seaworthy, with a/c to escape the heat when needed, and each had excellent captains and crew on board! Most importantly, each boat was releasing/catching 25-35 fish per day. If you want to catch fish, this is the place to go! Service, food, staff, housekeeping, and everything at the lodge was first rate, and exceeded exceptions. A lot of the guys that I went down with had stayed with Jody many times before and I could easily see why! I know I'll be returning next year and hopefully for many years to come!

Because of what is advertised and actuality is the reason I write this review. The resort itself is clean, the staff is great, food good, and the service at the resort is excellent. The reason I rate the resort as I did is because the reason for going is to fish. Boats are not right on the water steps from your room. No problem here though as the marina is a short 10 15 minute drive away. Te biggest disappointment is the boat provided by the resort. The Sirena had no air conditioning and was poorly ventilated and hot. The crew kept and sold our catch of dorado  even after expressly asking for it 3 days in a row. The facilitator acting between the Resort and the boat took the side of the crew to keep our catch. The quality of the boats operating out of Iztapa vary widely. Most, not all can catch sailfish all day long but don't expect much in the way of tuna or marlin. Our captain ignored bat balls widely visible from the surface along with visible dolphin pods. The one marlin we hooked was quickly lost as the reel drag was set too high snapping the line immediately. My advise to anyone wishing to fish Guatemala is make sure everything you expect is spelled out in writing and if you wish to keep some fish do not sail the Sirenaor Legacy. Will I ever return, NO.
