Fake city

With all it’s hooky gear it’s more like Peckham - that’s the bad bit but the food stalls are fantastic - lots of things to see and well worth the seat patch due to the heat.

Nice market in Bangtao Beach
Dec 2019
There is alot of stands, with food, clothes and souvenirs.

Be brave and try their food stands! I really love the food there, it's not for everyone (my wife didn't try anything).

We spend about two hours walking there and it we had a really nice time.

mostly knock-off merch
Dec 2019
Interesting street food alley, but most shops are just cheap knock-off American merchandise. I was hoping for locally crafted items and souvenirs, but there wasn't much of that available. What was available was the same from shop to shop.

Small but lovely

The night market was small but lovely. Worth the time if you are in the area but I would not make a special trip just to experience it.

If you are looking for a bit of food, Bang Tao market on Friday from 4.30pm is where you go. There are also several handcraft vendors there too and cafés and bars permanently on the street are open. It had a great atmosphere worth ask the coloured lights refkecting on the lagoon. We loved our visit.

Not huge but nice local feel

Try sugar cane drink 40bt, whole fried fish, and delicious Thai sweets ( black sticky rice, tapioca cake, rice balls etc) 20-40bt per pack. Crumb chicken and fish, spring rolls and samosas 15-20bt, cheaper fruit... Not a lot to buy... a few souvenir stalls, label clothing 100-250bt, sarongs 100bt, subclasses 109-250bt, wallets 200-300bt etc - mostly reasonable price. Authentic delicious khanom Jeen (spicy fish curry on rice noodles) 50bt and beef entrail soup at one food place if you’re game.
We paid 200bt motorcycle taxi from Surin beach, about 10 minutes drive. Starts around 4pm and ends around 8pm

Night Market in the back of Boat Avenue shopping area
Sep 2019
I really enjoyed the Friday night market here, lots of stalls - mostly food, but there are stalls with goods dotted throughout. Lots of childrens toys, clothing, sunglasses, etc but it's worth going for the food and free entertainment. There are bands playing everything from mild 80's classics to current day hits, back to 70's hard rock - and they're all really good too! Even a fire breathing team with a spectacular show, all free and don't forget the fabulous stalls selling cocktails (see pic) dotted around the place to help make the night festive.

There are lots of food options from meat, vegetarian, sweets, typical Thai street food on sticks - it's all here (see pics).

OK for a bite

This market is fine to visit for the food - not so much for shopping. We found that prices were substantially higher here than in similar markets throughout Thailand. If you are stopping by in Bangkok, then save your money. MBK, for example, is about 30-40% cheaper. That said, if you like street food, there's plenty of choice here - from kebabs to corn to fried chicken. Unless you are absolutely strapped for time, I suggest you come here to sample the food and even then, only shop for the bare minimum here. There is plenty of parking available opposite the market if driving.

We arrived at about 4pm on a Monday. Its low season and it was early so that may be why many stalls weren't set up but there was still plenty to see. There were some different things I haven't seen at other markets and good food choices, including cooked foods, fruit, fresh seafood and even raw meat stalls. There were lots of clothing and souvenir stalls too.
