Boundary Mark, Traders’ Mark
Apr 2019 • Friends
It is an amazing sight at the border between China and Vietnam, the boundary post is more or less overshadowed by the hawkers from Vietnam using this landmark to lure business from the tourists.

vietnam-china boundary marker
Jun 2016 • Family
To get to the vietnam-china boundary marker, one needs to walk through the no.3 platform, the highest waterfall viewing platform. From the waterfall, it takes around 20 mins to the marker. One can opt for a pony ride at 30 yuan per ride. Random stalls are set up along the trail. There is a flea market selling Vietnamese products at the boundary marker. Products sold are almost the same for all stalls. Vietnam coffee, slippers, decorations etc. Price negotiating is a must as prices are set randomly. A good deal comes with good bargaining skills.

No. 53 Boundary Marker
Aug 2014 • Couples
After the scenic look-out of the Detian waterfall, you can follow the trail to this interesting place where you will find a flea market where Vietnamese selling their goods to the Chinese locals and also tourists. It will be a place where you can experience the mixture of the two nations' culture all in one place. You may read my blog write-up on Detian which also includes the no.53 boundary marker here. http://www.myinstalifestyle.blogspot.sg/2015/06/detian-waterfall.html#more

Mixed Emotions
Jan 2015 • Couples
there are numerous boundary markers in this region. The one that makes this one special is that you can clearly see the Vietnamese guard towers in the trees in the distance. There have been reports of guards making sure you do not slip over the border----we saw none. It is a very emotional thing for an American to walk across that line however and I felt strongly about it-----I did not cross at Marker 53. There was a war fought in 1979 in this region between Vietnam and China. China was mad because Vietnam invaded Cambodia----Pol Pot was their man. In response they invaded Vietnam in this region and lost 4,000 soldiers the first day. They for got that Vietnam had been doing guerrilla fighting for over 25 years and that they now had the latest Russian weapons. It was a blood bath and China lost 20,000 men in less than a month when they retreated back to the border. Vietnam lost 10,000 military and civilians. Both sides declared victory. As a slap in the face the Vietnamese sell war relics at this site.

Like the many small stalls set up alongside the road leading to the boundary rmarker No. 53. There are 2 markers. One newly set up and one which is very old.(No.53). Many people line up waiting turn to take photo.

Here is a way to reach vietnam without actually having to pass thru a border crossing. The marker is part of the path thru the park for detian waterfall. its surrounded by a mixture of chinese and vietnamese vendors. Plenty of vietnam items I had never seen before.
