This might be an easy trek but it offers all the things that a big trek has. Forests Birds, Himalayan Peaks and vast meadow as long as the eye can see. i visited in May and all snow got melt unfortunately but the greenery and wild flowers were just as beautiful. It was green as long as the eye could see. There were big sheep herds also. It was just beautiful. Would recommend this trek to all those who love meadows and forest. Big thanks to team Himalayan Dream Treks who organised my Dayara Bugyal trek.

If you go to Dayara Bugyal you must have a stay at Dayara Bugyal Goat Village. I stayed for 3 days and the whole itinerary was given by their team. Location where this is property is situated is extremely beautiful. Everything about this place is amazing! All my 5 star to the stay, food, location & hospitality.

Being an avid trekker, I finally got a suggestion from my friend about Dayara Bugyal. That's all it took for us to set off on an adventure! We had an absolute blast. The trek to Dayara Bugyal is breathtakingly beautiful, and camping here will be one of the best experiences of your life.

The trek goes through the beautiful landscape of the Garhwal Himalayas. The Dayara Bugyal trek is an easy & doable trek during weekends for people for all age groups (Children above 12 years). Trek the highest altitude undulating meadows & enjoy the widespread imposing view of towering Himalayan peaks.
I went there with my friends and that was a wonderful experience. Because it was our first time that's why we book our package with BizareXpedition. And I wanna tell you that they did a fabulous job...

We went to Barnala and dayara Bugyal for a 4 day trek. Unfortunately, it was raining (unexpected in month of may). This did upset our plan, but it was a different experience trekking in rain and experiencing hail storm in Himalayas. The Barnala and Dayara plains are just amazing experience. he trek route from Barsu (our base ) to Dayara is well marked and is easy to moderate category. One can easily do one night at Barnala if you don't want to do the entire stretch at one go (like what we did as we had family members who were tired and were slow).
From Barsu to Barnala, there are two routes (long and easy or short but moderate). Choose depending on the group.
On the way notice the change of vegetation and flowering shrubs.
Barsu is a small village town, so please carry all supplies, medicines etc from delhi/dehradun. Also carry enough warm clothes as it gets cold at night.

I always dreamt of walking on knee-deep snow and guess what, this trek was a dream come true, thanks to my husband who gifted me this one one my birthday this year.
Thought we couldn't go up to Dayara because of heavy snow, The trek up to Barnala was more than what I imagined, more than I loved !! White snow all over, Gangotri-Jaonli Range in front, friendly guide cum cook (Gulab Singh, who lives in Maneri village; Phn No. 09012969385/09456116918), caring porters.. It felt like I died and went to heaven !!
The best place I've been to till date. And I think I wouldn't have enjoyed that much had we not gone in winter.
A lovely place to be for the weekend. Peaceful, simple, heavenly !!

The traditional trek route to this high 12000 ft. pasture starts from a small village of Barsu, high above the Bhagirathi river valley, above the town of Bhatwari.
It is usually a multi-staged trek, which usually takes 2-3 days to reach Dayara Top. The high pastures are filles with beautiful wild flower during spring and summer, with Gujjar shepherds walking their cattle. The negative point though is, the awesome panoramic view of high mountain peaks is restricted by monsoon clouds which usually hover around during summers.
The best time to visit is spring and autumn. Winter visit is worth if you are okay with the cold.
A virtually 180 degree panorama of high Himalayan peaks surrounding, and the deep valleys is seen from the pastures.
The trek to the top passes through steep valley climbs through forests, but culminates with slow sloping grasslands.
Propositions have been made to include skiing during winters, but this might take some time.
Overall, a worthwhile trek if you have time when you are in Uttarkashi

Day 0: Hop on the overnight bus to Uttarkashi.
Day 1: Forest department permission is required for dayara (w.e.f Aug 2018). Do formalities at uttarkashi itself (will be easy). You can hire local shared taxi (Rs.70/pp) to bhatwari. Here also they give permits (nominal charges-give details regarding number of people and days). Else if you have the permission from uttarkashi. Hire direct shared taxi (if available) to barsu village (Rs.100/pp).
Note: If you dont have the permission, you still can go and come back the same day (will be very hectic). Entry fee- nominal for per person, tent wise, pony wise etc.
Day 2: Once you have the permission you are good to go. Guide is not required if you are on budget. Walk is almost always uphill and well made and marked till dayara top. Carry ample food and water as there are no stalls or streams on the way to dayara. After 4km uphill walk there is a flat ground for putting tents etc. Move further up and there will be a nag devta temple and adjoining small pond. Move further up after finding the way up to the hills and after 3km you will reach dayara (from here dayara top is 3km). You can choose to stay here.
Day3: Start for dayara top (6am or early). Its almost undulating path and easy to walk on. As soon as you start you will see the mighty bandarpoonch massif to the right. Pass all the bugyal to reach the highest point at dayara top. You will also see a huge herd of 500+ sheeps. The bugyal looks out of the world in the morning yellow sun light. The more you move forward, the more you feel like going further. The area is totally safe in summers with horses, cows, buffaloes grazing all over. You can choose to walk further to highest point (Bakaria top) or you can walk nearer to the bandarpoonch massif following the path on the bugyal. You can come back once you are done to barsu village or can come as per your permit.
Note: 1) Small huts with local people are there at dayara. They have all the facilities, food, water etc but at higher cost. (Caution- they might have bed bugs, plenty of them)
2) Putting tent is not allowed near dayara top even with permission. Better pitch your tent somewhere down hill.
3) You need special preparations for winters. Otherwise in summers its a family destination.
4) Choose to go when nobody is there to get that feel. Else it will be chaotic.
5) Staying at barsu village is great option. Visit in off season for better rates else it will all be full in season.
6) Uttarkashi to Barsu taxis are not very frequent. Though barsu to uttarkashi will be easy to reach.

Conducted a trek of 12 kids to Dayara from village Raithal side. I have done it previously from Barsu side too but from Raithal the trek is more gentle. Its better to do a loop starting from Raithal and concluding at Barsu. Don't forget to hike up to Bakaria top. Keep sipping water to avoid dehydration

This was unplanned trek. I enrolled for Coming Taliban trek but due to heavy snowfall at Gangotri we got shifted to village Raithal. We did this 5 days trek within 3 days. May was too hot. We took lots of precaution to protect ourselves from sun. Dayara Bugyal is too scenic meadows. Must visited place. The view of Himalayan range is amazing. We did Bakria Top summit. It's a treble summit with great sense of achievement

Is it possible to do this (or any other hike) on Rishikesh-Haridwar area solo or we have to have a guide for everything? We are two experienced hikers, but now we are looking for some 1 day hikes (we sleep in hotels in rishikesh and haridwar), so from early morniong till evening. We are in good shape. Thanxx

Which is the best place to go this December 1st week to witness snowfall in uttarakhand?
Written October 25, 2019
Snowfall is rare in lower Uttrakhand during December month. But you can see snowcapped mountains anywhere above 3500-4000mtrs. Else plan for deeper regions but you may get stuck if snowfall occurs.

Is it too much snow during december end? Do we get to see landscapes or its all snow

Hi, can we pitch our tent on meadows like Dayara ? If not, then where do we need spend the night after hiking from Barnala Taal? Or we can pitch the tent before 100-200 meters before the meadows ?
Written May 11, 2019
pitching of tents in the bugyal is not permitted.
however, there is a site created to do so a few hundred meters below where one can stay in the tents.
