Poorly maintained by any standards.
Neglected animals on display incl. around 30 tortoises in a pen with zero vegetation and limited water.
Trash littered liberally.
All park benches in a state if disrepair and unsable.
Felt sorry for the half feathered parrot which greats you in entry.
Could be something special in this otherwise awful town but it is a fail i'm afraid...

The parc used to be indeed a small piece of jungle at the doors of the chaotic San Gil. Some trees are still beautiful. However, mismanagement of the direction of the parc destroyed it: they put electric cables in the trees for a night show, music everywhere, a swimming pool that does not belong to such a place (it was a parc, not a "balneario”). All this can be reversed. However, what will still be destroyed is the once lovely beach, in front of which an apartment house of dubious taste and a motel-looking attraction parc with bad and very loud music have been built.. What a shame.

The park is quite large with many stoned pathways to stroll and explore the vegetation. With macaws, squirrels, rabbits and parrots to interact with along the way, it becomes a very unique experience. There is also a large swimming pool to dip into to cool off from the warm temperatures and restaurants and bar to refresh and enjoy a meal or snack.

Lovely park with some amazing wild life and cool old trees. Great to spend an afternoon walking around. Remember to take your camera

PROS
*This isn’t your average park. There are colorful animals and plants, charming bridges and massive trees.
*Good place to take photos.
*The 6.000 admission is pretty cheap.

CONS
*I enjoyed the place because I like photography. If I wasn’t there to take pictures, I might be kind of bored.

We’d expected a large park with many trees with barba de viejo. Were a bit disappointed in that aspect. But it’s a nice park to get away from the busier city for an hour or two. If you like smaller wildlife (birds, butterflies, lizards, squirrels), take your camera w you.

Lovely little park where it’s a bit more peaceful and tranquil than the city. Nice to get away for an hour or so.

There are red squirrels, iguanas and a whole host of other bird species including the odd hummingbird.

The bearded trees are very cool. Just a nice place to go and hang out for a bit.

Visited this park in the afternoon as we arrived in San Gil at around 2pm. It’s about 10 minutes stroll from the central plaza and cost 6000 COP to enter & an additional 4000 COP to enter if you want to take a dip in one of the swimming pools. The park itself is attractive, with interesting flora including large trees dripping with moss. The paths lead you round a variety of different sections, by a large river, through areas of different plants and across bridges over small streams. There is also a few small cafe restaurants which offered a good spot for me to have a drink and an ice cream at a good price, whilst my partner went for a dip in the swimming pool. Worth visiting if you want more tranquility than the town has to offer for a couple of hours

Traveling to San Gil or Chicamocha Canyon from Bogota by car or bus could be tired; a short walk surrounded by trees and listening a short introduction of Guane indigene culture is a good idea.

Easily accessabile, only 10 minutes away from the main Plaza. This is a Parque with different trees and flowers typical from Colombia. I went on my own and spent a good 2 hours roaming around and just sitting by the river. Went on a Monday and it was very peaceful.
