Hidden Gem 15 min walk from Manly Ferry
Dec 2019
Well known to locals, this is a hidden gem for tourists. It is only a short 15 min walk from Many ferry and the walk along the coastline is beautiful in itself.
Tourists of course will want to see Manly Beach first. It’s the main attraction. However, if you want to explore beyond the mainstream tourist sights and go a bit away from the commercial centre of Manly, then this is a perfect diversion.
Fairlight Beach is not a typical large surf beach, like Manly. Rather, it is a small, gentle harbour beach. It has excellent snorkelling which brings a lot of people here. If you just want to paddle or have small children, it’s calm waters make it a very good spot. The grassy verge leading down to the sand is perfect for picnics
Other features include rock-pools and a tidal swimming pool. From the swimming pool, you can float around, looking out through the Sydney Heads. A great view. There is a shower and toilet block but no lifeguards.
GETTING THERE: As you head out of the wharf, turn left and follow the coastal path around behind the Manly Art Gallery and the Waterworks until you reach this beach. The path is a part of the much longer Spit Bridge to Manly Walking Trail.

Peaceful and scenic
Dec 2018
Go to the club for lunch. Walk in the bush. Take your camera. Anothe rof Sydney's best places to seek out if you like to "get away from the city". Still, not a "day trip on its own". You can do this and other sights by just "getting lost" along the coast along the southern suburbs.

Awesome fresh tidal pool and beach
Jul 2019 • Friends
Such a great location for a relaxation on the grass having a picnic over looking Sydney Harbour with views out over the heads. Having a dip in the ocean and chill out on the beach is great during the warmer days. Can get very busy on the weekends. There are Showers and Toilets available. Has a awesome fresh Tidal pool and kiddies pool which is kept clean and great for swim in the evenings just before watching sunset. Also has a Good area to snorkel and scuba dive.

Wild small beach
Jun 2019 • Solo
Just a small patch of sand with a lot of rocks and a good pool but it seems a great place to sit of have a dip. It must be the direct southeasterly line out the heads that gives it rougher waves than most harbour beaches and makes one end of the pool a lot of fun.

A small beach popular with locals
Jan 2019 • Family
Reached by a pathway from Manly this smaller beach is popular with locals. Snorkelling revealed an interesting array of fish. Dogs are allowed on the pathway on a lead, however, many locals walked their dogs off the leash causing consternation to some people.

A lovely, safe, easily accessible beach -for playing in the water, swimming, snorkelling, freediving, paddleboarding.
Dec 2018 • Solo
If you snorkel/freedive it is best at high tide. Low tide it can be sandy and not as clear.
There are some nice aquatic plants, some shelves -and some nice marine life. I saw a couple of very nice small common rays, some Bream, schools of smaller fish, a Flathead which was very cool.
There are no facilities here - the toilets are about 5 minute walk to where Seaworld used to be. I enjoyed the variety of ages using this beach - from little ones and , couples and older people too. .It is a free beach.

Family beach 🏖

Fairlight Beach is truly a hidden gem of Sydney’s harbour beaches. It’s easily located along the Manly to Spit walk approximately a 10 minutes walk from Manly Wharf. There is an excellent Rockpool , wading pool , toilets change rooms & showers. The harbour beach is pretty with a sandy beach & grass areas perfect for families.

Small harbour beach with rock pool
Dec 2018 • Couples
We came here for a picnic on a sunny weekend day. It's a beautiful spot tucked away along the Manly to Spit Walk. There are plenty of passers by and just a handful of groups that stop here to sunbake, take a swim and sit and enjoy the view.
On the day we came there was a cool ocean breeze and we wished that we had brought something warmer to wear. Others around us seemed content sitting in their swimming costumes, but I could have used a jacket! Other than that the place was lovely. There is a rock pool, plenty of sunny spots as well as shady areas under trees. There's a toilet block and drinking fountains. It is a short walk from Manly Wharf. It has a small sandy area, rocky outcrops and a small area where you can go paddling. The water was filled with seaweed when we went there, so we'd recommend swimming in the rock pool if you come here.
