The walks here are spectacular!!! Some of them are quite difficult and long but there are plenty of options for all ages. Make sure you have very comfy well fitting shoes.

Great place, very large sites, do terrific talks at 5pm every night for information on walks, the park, etc...Good roast dinner many nights well worth the money, they do happy hour every afternoon at 4pm with discounted drinks and free nibbles, amenities are good...the only criticism would be no recycling for bottles, plastics etc. only cardboard that they burn.

A bush hike to remember! Choose from several walks that match your level of fitness for a very special bush experience. Some areas to have a lot of stairs but each site is different and amazing.

We benefitted greatly by having the Australian Nature Guides discovery centre on-site at our accommodation. Their informative displays were very useful, as was their late afternoon daily talk (gold coin donation). Based on their knowledge and recommendations, we did several short walks in the vicinity of the Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge and around the National Park visitor centre. We saw... More

We attempted the 14.6 km 'quadrella' main walk but after the Art gallery, glorious Wards Canyon and fun Amphitheatre, we decided to leave the Moss Garden to enjoy the next day. Found walking stick helpful if you have bad knees as quite a few steps in places or stepping stones for creek crossings. Walks fun, interesting and entirely worthwhile. Wards... More

This is such a magical place. You MUST walk to as far as the Cathedrals or even better.. the bend. Its relatively flat along the main track and so stunning. Once you get past the gallery it turns into beautiful wilderness. Absolutely breathtaking. Make sure you spend about 3 to 4 nights out there at Takkaracka and do all the... More

Wow, be warned, it's a 9hr drive from westen Brusbane. After you get through the road works of 60kph its good to be able to put the foot down to the 110kph speed limit. On the trip out we saw an echidna, wedge tail eagle, emus, broglas, not to mention the kangaroos. The Gorge is beautiful and well worth the... More

We only had a short stop at Carnarvon Gorge and had to stay in Rolleston because the resorts were full so that dampened it a bit. We did a night tour and then a full day tour the next day. Wonderful sites (Balloon cave, Ampitheatre, Art Gallery, Ward's Canyon, Moss Garden) and some cute wildlife (wallabies, kangaroos, gliders, turtles). We... More

This place is absolutely amazing! It is well worth the visit. We did the Carnarvon Gorge Great Walk - a 5 night multi day hike covering over 87 kms. The entire place is stunning. Tough walk. Don't attempt if you aren't experienced or fit.
