This is a beautiful and convenient place to visit. There are delis not far to pick up sandwiches and you can eat on the picnic tables. Also, there were port-a-John toilets. The dam and the spillway are scenic and you can then drive up and walk the bridge that spans the Croton River. At just $10 per car, it’s a good deal. It’s not a lot of walking so it’s great for folks with kids or elderly relatives. Highly recommended!

Visited on July 4th, limited parking but it was still open. Several families arrived earlier to secure picnic tables & BBQs under trees, some brought pop up tents & umbrellas for shade. A few hammocks were strung between tree branches. Some were playing soccer in the open area. You can see the dam & waterfall from the main open area. Restrooms were working - no food or concession stands. Walked the established path to the top of the Dam - strollers and bikes could easily work. Bring your own water! We stayed 1 hour which was enough to experience the area. Before entering, we stopped by a local deli for sandwiches which was a great find - bring your own food before entering!

Very nice scenic park. Not a lot of parking. The day I went the parking lot was closed so we had to do a smaller lot but it was free instead if he normal $10 entrance fee. As soon as you get in the park you are greeted by the beautiful damn and waterfall. Great for pics. Did the 10 min walk to the top of the damn and that was wonderful too.

Took a drive out to Croton gorge park to check out the waterfall and do some trails. The waterfall was very cool but there was only 2 trails which were ok..one took you to the aquaduct trail which is to the top of the bridge and the other took you by the river..not much to do but the waterfall was nice enough so I'm satisfied..I wish there were more trails into the woods cuz there's a lot of land but I guess they can't since there's homes out there as well. All in all its a great spot to go with your kids cuz they have a playground for the kids n picnic tables which is cool and no bathrooms only porta potties..also parking is free after sept and dogs are allowed on leashes even tho I saw everyone's dog off the leash but they were all friendly including the dog that went into my car while the door was open jaja..

This dam is an engineering marvel in its own right, it makes Croton Gorge Park in Westchester County a must-visit spot in the Hudson Valley, and it's just an hour away from NYC, on the east side of the Hudson River.

Gorgeous views, an open area to run/play, a playground, hiking trails, picnic tables, Kayaking, places to fish, and grills. Great for photos. The park is great for year-round events and activities from family gatherings, dates, and outings with friends. There is parking, a large grass space where you can BBQ, and most importantly some nice and easy walking trails.

A fence keeps you from getting too close to the waterfall, though the views from behind it are quite good and you can walk pretty close to the edge of the falls. we have seen wedding photos shoot, a man going down on his knees, and other lifetime events.

The park’s historic dam holds billions of gallons of drinking water for New York City. It is a seriously impressive dam and waterfall. In fact, the New Croton Dam is 297 feet tall and 2,188 feet long. At the time of its completion (around 1910) , it was the tallest dam in the world. Above the waterfall, there is a tall bridge that spans the top of the waterfall and continues across the dam. you can go to the top by car, park nearby and then within walking distance of the bridge and then you can see the other side of the dam.

Fun Fact-1: This reservoir is used for drinking water in New York City.

Fun Fact-2: Some say that this is the third-largest hand-hewn stone structure in the world after the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids of Giza (I read about it while my research- the reviewer is not responsible if its not true :P )

Fee: $10 for the car (in summer) but if you visit during the off-season, there is no charge.

If you live in the NYC area and have a car, I highly recommend you check out New Croton Dam and plan for a picnic.

Who knew that this beautiful waterfall was so close to where I live. Absolutely breathtaking. I will be going back with my lounge chair and a picnic lunch and will be taking the hiking trail to the top of the falls.
