This attraction is the location of quarries that were once in use. This particular quarry is massive and deep. Parking is limited so I recommend choosing a weekday not during the summer tourist high-season. Also, parking consists of dirt areas cleared out so try to park accordingly that you can't get blocked in by another.

There is no charge to this site and there are a few outlooks from which you can look over the site. The path around the quarry a just a dirt path that become muddy when it rains a little, so dress accordingly. During our visit we saw people stray outside of marked areas. To each their own, but doing so in my opinion could lead to tragic consequences because the fall down into the quarry is a long one.

As I mentioned before this site doesn't have a true path, and will be a big challenge for anyone with physical walking disabilities. Still, it is a nice visit and I can recommend it. If you are visiting the Czech Republic for a short time, then I wouldn't put this on your list because there are better places to see.

If You are already tired of sightseeing the city or castle Karlštejn, You can take a trip to the old quarry Velká Amerika. It is located only 20 km from Prag and You can easy get there by car or train. Do not expect any comfort there, but You can enjoy great views on the querry. Entrance to the quarry is prohibited because danger of falls. You can simple go around on the path. On the opposite site of the parking area is the best view to the quarry. Only few steps away is quarry Mexiko. A smaller and hidden brother of the big one Velká Amerika. the is a memorial to political prisoners working as slaves in the quarry in 1949- 1953. If You if you still have some time left, You can take a walk to another quarry- Malá Amerika, which is only few minutes away. I would recomend to visit this attraction on sunny day, at worst not on rainy days. The trail arround is then very muddy.

Surprisingly nice walk with amazing views. Worth a visit when in Prague, even if you're on a budget.

As soon as you park your vehicle on the side of the road, someone pounces on you and asks you for 2 euros for the space.
Then you follow a small forest path which goes around the quarry lake but which is very dirty and littered with waste of all kinds.
Pretty quarry lake in this case but nothing extraordinary
You cannot go down to the edge of the lake which is reserved for associations or sports clubs
The day of our visit, noise from a generator which disturbs the tranquility of the place…
Damage…

After visiting a famous castle 🏰 in the area! 😉 We see these activities not far away! Neither one nor two, enticed by the photos we go there.
Note that parking costs €2.
We were thinking of taking a long walk and going down to the water's edge and why not putting our feet there.
This is not the case!
We follow the people (there are no signs indicating the circuit).
During our walk, we noticed countless amounts of waste! EVERYWHERE !!!! On the path that goes around, I noticed that two trash cans,…. A SHAME !!
people who throw away don't sound any better! 😤
At one point we arrive at a viewing bridge! Owl ! Life is magnificent ! But we realize that we are at the bottom of the Quarry and we realize that we cannot go down! A real disappointment!
The place is beautiful with beautiful colors but I don't recommend it at all

The area is beautiful. But the place is more of a viewpoint than a hike. The circular tour includes a few sections that are little more than a dirt track or are so full of rubble that the path would not be safe for children or seniors. The parking lot indicated costs €2.

Underwhelming as everything was roped off, water levels low, no info in english on the signs. Locals swimming but obviously a hidden track somewhere (good for them). Did a big hike to get there and around from east to west but the views are disappointing. No where to sit at all on the entire walk as i had packed a great lunch to enjoy. Could be better utilised

Not easily accessible travel! No clear information.
Surprisingly, it's closed and not allowed to enter! Waist of time to go to just watch from a small window on the road!!!! Quite a pity!
It's such a beautiful place that is hidden and not being enjoyed!
They claimed its dangerous but that's not true because there's a build entry drive through tunnel connecting top to bottom as an incline slop. But apparently its private for certain people only and no description of contact available to for entry renting or visiting permits.

I was scared at first that this walk will require a good physique but it does not. The parking lot is located right next to the beautiful view, so I suggest this activity also to coach potatoes.

My boyfriend and I decided to take a short (45 minutes) train to see this quarry but also Lom Malá Amerika. The walk wasn't so long nor difficult overall, so we managed to fit it all in a day trip from Prague! The scenery was lovely and we wish we had arrived earlier to have more time to finish off our sketches.
