Worth coming
Mar 2021 • Couples
Only open on Sunday.
Lots of local street food, interesting cafe and shopping.
Worth coming as everything is on local price (right now).

Busy eclectic weekend market

If there is one market you have to go to in Phuket, this is it! Thalang road is closed to vehicles and becomes a walking street. There is so much more than just the usual food and clothing stalls. You can find unique pottery pieces, unusual jewellery and many other treasures here that are not found elsewhere. There is live music and such a great vibe here. Be sure to go early when it opens at 4pm if you’re looking for a a parking spot nearby.

Taste bud adventure

Sunday Walking Street brings out a lot of tourists and locals alike. It is VERY crowded so make sure to keep your belongs close at hand. Baht is the currency of choice at all vendors and stores. Be sure to keep a lots of small denominations and coins handy. Things move in a big wave down the street so there isn't time for stopping a gazing or backtracking in to the mass of people. IF you see something you like get it then and there. There are tons of tasty morsels to try. Be adventurous. Prices are pretty fair on goods. You may be able to bargain a tad with the street vendors. Most shops are set prices but it never hurts to ask, especially if you are buying several items.

Sunday walking market closed due to Covid19
Mar 2020 • Family
I was on Thalang St in Old Phuket town. This is the street the Sunday walking markets are at. One of the store owners on this street informed me there are no markets on anymore since last weekend, due to Covid19. Not sure if the night markets are on either. Check any forums on TripAdvisor or on Google for more information.

Colourful and eye catching
Feb 2020
Friday 14th February we were on an Explore Phuket Tour, which included sightseeing in Old Phuket.

One of the attractions was the Sunday Walking Street Market. Although we did not visit here on a Sunday, there was sufficient open and going on to give us a flavour of the place.

We strolled along past vibrantly painted buildings, ornate fronted shops & restaurants. There was some amazing wall art adding to the atmosphere.

Shops along the street were displaying fabrics of every colour. Tourist shops were side by side with local hardware and general stores.

We visited a number of arcades filled with stalls with their merchandise on display.

There were a plethora of bars, cafes and restaurants along the way.

Vibrant and colourful market

Vibrant and colourful market selling a wide range of cute handicrafts.
I don’t usually like markets, but this one is a must-see.
On top of the handicrafts, there is a large variety of street food on sale.
Highly recommend.

A must visit/ Instagram dream

We are staying in Pheuket and read about the walking market on Tripadvisor.

We got a taxi from our hotel to the market with ease there & back.

The market is very popular and scattered in stalls nestled between coloured buildings. Stalls include: craft, clothing, plants, food (incl. some vegan/vegetarian) & much more. They also have multiple musicians performing live music including western classics and traditional Thai with some people dancing too! Although, l there is a lot of people you are made to feel very safe.

The area itself is packed with restaurants, shops & bars. A lot of the bars have live music too which is slot of fun if you want to chill with a beer & enjoy your evening!!

Must see market

This market is hot, crowded and immensely fun. The man selling sweet potato balls in the food court, had me going back for more. Great place to get souvenirs and some good dinner, but can easily become overwhelming.

Good place for foodie people

This is also known as weekend market. Located in old town phuket. The footfall starts to increase by 5pm and the market is open till 10pm. You will find a lot of food stalls here. Each offering a unique taste. Small bites from each stall will easily make you full enough. There are also some artists there who will paint your picture then and there. You can also find shops offering dresses, shoes, sandals, ornaments, etc. I personally will not recommend this place if only shopping is on your mind. It's more for eating and roaming around. May be you find something good enough to buy as well. There are also back to back live performances which you can enjoy.
