"After 12 years in Phuket, the experiment ran its course and I was packing for Polynesia," says Gray, "but when all these guides showed up, I had no choice but to stay and do another start-up."

Late in posting this. We had a great time on the tour. Guides were very accommodating and allowed the kids to try doing it themselves. They explained about the animals around the place and customised it to each family.

Exploring the caves with John Gray was a once in a lifetime experience. The crew was super friendly and took us to 3 different caves where we canoed around. Seeing nature’s beauty at its peak, while canoeing on the warm water in Thailand was gorgeous. The crew even provided us with a delicious lunch and dinner of authentic Thai food meeting all dietary needs including vegetarian food and nut allergies. After canoeing with a crew member for the first 2 caves, we were allowed to go on our own. Paddling in the water with my friends was such a fun experience. In the middle of the day, our boat stopped and we all got a chance to swim in the lovely water. We even played a game with the crew running across the inflated canoes and trying to reach the end. On my trip, I even got to meet John Gray himself who is a wonderful passionate man. This trip was a unique experience lasting the whole day but it was most definitely worth it. Everywhere you look, there is something breathtaking. From the stalagmites and stalactites, to the clay floored lagoons, and even seeing a walking fish. If you ever go out to Phuket, make sure to save a day to go on one of John Gray’s tours and explore the caves of Thailand.

John Gray’s Sea Canoe tour is an amazing way to see the islands and learn about the local culture. Starting off the trip, we took a beautiful boat ride around the islands. We were then able to begin kayaking around our first island and into the caves. Each island was uniquely amazing and was like its own little adventure. My friend and I were paired with an experienced Thai tour guide who led us through the caves and answered any questions we had. While taking in all the amazing views on the kayak we also learned a lot about the culture. It was amazing to see the pride our tour guide, Sunny, took in explaining their traditions. One tradition we were able to take part in was creating our own lantern offering and then releasing it into the cave. It was a beautiful experience and one I will never forget. We were also able to see the bioluminescence which was something I had always wanted to see. To top off the day we got to see one of the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen on the water. Overall it was a day I will never forget! The staff was very friendly and I could tell they enjoy their job just as much as we enjoyed our visit. The Thai food we were served was delicious especially considering it was made on a boat! The boat was very spacious and comfortable. One tip I have for anyone planning on taking part in John Gray’s Sea Canoe tour is to bring a camera. There are so many amazing places to take pictures that you won’t want to miss out on. For those worried about water damage, a large waterproof bag is provided on the trip.

If you want to see the natural beauty that Thailand has to offer, you must do John Gray’s Sea Canoes! Seeing the island caves off the coast of Phuket was spectacular! Our group was ferried to multiple islands on a large boat. Once we arrived at the islands, we embarked onto our canoes. Each canoe fit three people, with one of them being a local tour guide. These locals did most of the paddling and were very friendly! The guides told us jokes and we learned a lot about Thai island life. They took our small canoes through a system of caves and into some awesome areas “within” the islands. It looked like a scene out of Jurassic Park! I recommend that you bring a good camera or a gopro to capture some awesome pictures and video. We had three sessions of canoe tours throughout the day, all in different areas. The last of which took place at sunset and was one of the most magical things I have ever seen. We got to see a beautiful sunset over the water. Once it was dark, we went back into the caves, where the water glowed a bright white from the phosphorus in the water. It was incredible! In between canoe sessions, we were served fantastic meals on the boat. We also had a bit of fun with the tour guides by seeing who could run across the most canoes tied together from the end of the boat. If you want to have a relaxing, yet scenic day in Phuket, go on the John Gray Sea Canoes tour!

John Gray’s Sea Canoe provides a great, relaxing way to take in some of the most incredible natural beauty of Phuket. The boat the larger group went on was nice and spacious, and we had plenty of time to enjoy the ride and look out at the water, as well as enjoy the very tasty food provided. The entire crew was energetic and made everyone feel very welcome. At each stop, we got on a canoe, which felt very sturdy and safe, with our guide, who was very kind and even let us row for a bit. We went around cliffs and islands and got to experience some breathtaking views. It was quite an adventure as we went through caves, ducked under rocks, and got to walk around some small beaches. Between two of the stops, the group and the guides swam in the water and got to row the canoe around the area of the boat. At our last stop, we experienced the sunset over the water and the caves, and it was absolutely amazing. We also made a krathong, or floating lantern with our guide and were able to release it and experience the Thai culture and beliefs of them bringing good fortune. I would definitely recommend doing a tour with John Gray’s Sea Canoe. If you do, I would recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a waterproof camera if you have one, but don’t worry about a waterproof bag for your phone as one is provided.
