John Gray’s Sea Canoe day trip was an incredible experience that I recommend to everyone. We took a large boat out to sea and enjoyed a beautiful Thailand meal for lunch. We traveled through crystal blue waters to get to our destinations. The day trip focused on water caves which were the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. When we reached a destination, the staff was very organized and patient and safely put two people on a canoe with a guide who steered and paddled the canoe so we were able to safely enjoy the views. Being in the water on a canoe, traveling through a magical cave was incredible and an experience not many have. The views were truly breathtaking and I loved every second of it. The guides were local Thais who were employed by John Gray. The guides made the experience great by taking photos, sharing knowledge about Thailand and the caves, and making sure that we felt safe on our endeavor. When we got to an area where we could swim, the guides tied many inflatable canoes together and turned them upside down attached to the boat, creating a wipe-out type of activity for my
tour group to jump through for an hour. It was so much fun and everyone, including the staff members, were cheering and having a great time. My favorite and most memorable part of this Sea Canoe day trip was our ceremony. My tour was during the Lunar New Year, so there were many special celebrations going on in Thailand during this time. Our guides helped us make beautiful River Lanterns made out of flowers and banana trees. After we made our Lanterns, we were taken after sunset into a water cave by canoe. It was pitch black (except for the headlight the guides wore to steer us safely). Once inside the cave, we lit the candles on our Lanterns
and at once, 50 lanterns were visible in the water. It was the most beautiful experience I have ever had, watching this peaceful cave be lit up by small candles. John Gray’s Sea Canoe trip was one of my favorite experiences I have ever had in my entire life, and I share the pictures and memories with anyone who will listen. I highly recommend taking this journey and experiencing the beauty that is Thailand.

We booked this experience through our hotel on surin beach and from the minute we were picked up we were not disappointed. The trip included return transport from our to the pier. All the reviews we read were so we had high expectations.
It was incredibly easy and a seamless transition from our minibus to the boat, which was no mean feat considering there must have been at least 100 people of all nationalities to organise.
Once we boarded the boat the itinerary for the day was clearly explaining along with journey times and we were then assigned our designated guide. We felt fortunate as were partnered with Bao,who not only was incredibly friendly, was very knowledgable about the areas we saw. We felt completely at ease at each of the 3 islands we visited.
Highlights for us included:

Kratong making
Incredible food served on the lunch
Getting close to the monkeys in the lagoons
The stunning lime tree rocks and lagoons

If were to suggest any minor improvement it would be less headtorches when looking for plankton which perhaps could be done by staggering the entry (though I suspect logistically this isn't possible)
A real must do 5 star experience. Thanks to all the staff

The John Gray Sea Canoe Tour was my favorite experience in Phuket, Thailand. It began on a large boat that brought us to the Phang Nga Bay, and on our way there we were given a delicious lunch. Once we arrived, we were split onto smaller canoes, each with a tour guide to show us around. Each tour guide was skilled in maneuvering the small canoes through the water and underneath the tunnels that brought us into the heart of the islands. My tour guide’s name was Alan, he was extremely informative about the history of the tunnels and shared Thai culture with us. Alan explained that the shape of the islands, the tunnels just above the water as well as the smooth stalactites above us, were a result of corrosion. Alan brought us through the narrow tunnels that opened up into beautiful hidden lagoons that captured the natural beauty of Phuket, Thailand. I would definitely recommend wearing a bathing suit and plenty of sunscreen on the smaller canoes because the sun was very strong and water would sometimes make it into the boat. John Gray and all of his tour guides were extremely friendly and made my experience even better than I could have imagined. The guides were always offering to take our pictures and teach us more about Phuket and the beautiful islands we were exploring. We spent the afternoon making floating lanterns on the boat, while Alan taught us about the history of the offerings we were making. As the sun was going down, we returned to the tunnels of the islands and released our floating lanterns. The sunset was so beautiful as we were leaving the cave and the whole day seemed too good to be true. I would recommend this activity to anyone and everyone. This one day on the water in Phuket exploring the islands of the Phang Nga Bay was the single best day of my entire trip. The overall opportunity was amazing, but the John Gray Sea Canoe Tour made my experience unforgettable.

John Gray’s Sea Canoe provides a great, relaxing way to take in some of the most incredible natural beauty of Phuket. The boat the larger group went on was nice and spacious, and we had plenty of time to enjoy the ride and look out at the water, as well as enjoy the very tasty food provided. The entire crew was energetic and made everyone feel very welcome. At each stop, we got on a canoe, which felt very sturdy and safe, with our guide, who was very kind and even let us row for a bit. We went around cliffs and islands and got to experience some breathtaking views. It was quite an adventure as we went through caves, ducked under rocks, and got to walk around some small beaches. Between two of the stops, the group and the guides swam in the water and got to row the canoe around the area of the boat. At our last stop, we experienced the sunset over the water and the caves, and it was absolutely amazing. We also made a krathong, or floating lantern with our guide and were able to release it and experience the Thai culture and beliefs of them bringing good fortune. I would definitely recommend doing a tour with John Gray’s Sea Canoe. If you do, I would recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a waterproof camera if you have one, but don’t worry about a waterproof bag for your phone as one is provided.

It was a long day but such a wonderful experience. Picked up at 11:20 from our hotel, driven to the bay (about an hour) and boarded the boat. My daughter and I had gone on a dive boat two days earlier which was chaotic and not very enjoyable so was hopeful that this wasn't gone to be a repeat. From the initial meeting of all the staff (including John Gray!) to the end of the day was truly a magical day. Getting to the islands was a gorgeous trip, we were in 2 boats with 2 guides, they do all the kayaking and tell you about what you are seeing. Our guides were awesome!! So knowledgeable about what we were seeing, made every effort to show us interesting features of the lagoons, caves and water. The food was delicious, plenty of water (you can buy your own drinks and bring them onto the boat). Making the flower offering, getting back in the kayak after dark and lighting them was a memory I will have for a long time. The bioluminescent algae was mesmerizing to watch. My entire family was so grateful to the staff for making this day a long term memory!

The personal guide, mine was Toy, on each kayak was a great addition to this day. I'm not comfortable in the water but my guide assuaged my fears and even talked me through a very tight bat cave to help me with my claustrophobia! Toy took me and another traveler on each of the three lagoon explorations, found a plateen and bats for us to see along with numerous crabs of every color as they hunted the oysters on the rock wall for food. She helped me make a kratong but really did most of the creative work. What a memorable day in Phuket! And meeting John Gray was a real treat as he took photos of customers' fun!

John Grays Hong Trip was absolutely amazing! Recommended by our Asiaworld guide. We were looked after by the staff so well and spent a 'fantasy' day going into the islands through caves and out into the Jurassic Park like lagoons in the centre of the islands. Thank you so much Andy and staff for an 'out of this world' experience. The day was completed by making our own floral floating displays from a banana trunk which we floated in the sunset. The food was incredible and all of us on that boat thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Don't miss out on this!!

John Gray's Sea Canoe Tour is one of the most exotic tours I have ever done. First of all, John Gray, and Emmy winner, (look it up) usually joins the tour daily. He discovered the caves that you will visit and was the first to establish tours to them. Very helpful crew, and safety is of highest concern. Food consist of a light lunch and nice local dinner.(nothing over the top, but you are on a boat) Interesting history and marine biology discussions while enjoying the best views imaginable.

I did have a great time however part of the appeal of going on this trip and paying the price was the fact that we were told the experience was recoreded. It is our wedding annivesary today and thought why not look back at some of our most precious meories. I have to say i was more than disapointed when I put the CD on to find only pics of a thai weddinging (not mine). What a complete sham!!!!!

The John Gray's sea canoe team were very organised. Excellent guides. We really appreciated that there was one guide for every two people, and they paddled the canoe. They were knowledgeable about the caves, lagoons and local wildlife. We saw lots of wildlife, including monkeys. Great food provided as part of day trip. A very enjoyable day.
