Paddle Asia is a small family-owned business specializing in small group self-paddle kayaking Phang Nga Bay focusing on getting away from other visitors. We also offer mountain biking on Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai. Paddle Asia deals directly with our guests. We don't go through agents. We deal directly with you! Book directly through us, please. Paddle Asia uses proper sit-inside kayaks. Our mission is to offer you something completely different from what other tour operators in the region offer. Your eco-adventure tour is designed for first-time paddlers and novice travelers. Families with children are more than welcome! Experienced kayakers and adventurers are, of course, also welcome. We just completed a 2-day one night paddle trip with Paddle Asia and it could not have gone better. The customer service, the food, the attention to skill levels and overall support were all excellent. Our lead guide Khun Run and his support (Mr. Ha) were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and clearly love both their work and their home. We had a prop come off on our longtail boat and the whole event could have been handled poorly but instead it was almost a non-issue. The guides handled getting us all into our kayaks and a replacement boat showed up while we were paddling, and it became a memory instead of a problem. I highly recommend Paddle Asia for the ease of booking, the professionalism, knowledge and engagement of the guides and true passion for what they do. They definitely go above and beyond.

Thanks again for coming with us. Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this detailed review.
Yeah, it's a bit surprising how often props come off of longtails. I'm not surprised that they had a quick Plan B. ;-)

We booked a one-week kayaking trip for a group of professional rowers from Israel. The logistical care given by Dave was extremely professional, Dave tailored the trip to our needs - we got everything that was promised and more!.
The trip itself was led by Ran, a trip that was successful and enjoyable beyond expectations! Ran the guide was attentive to our needs and a pleasant person. Thanks to him we paddled not only to the "normal" magical landscapes that the area offers but also to hidden and very unique corners known to him as a local paddler - very hidden stalactite caves.

For anyone wanting to self-paddle a kayak in Phang Nga Bay, I can't recommend a better way of doing it than with Paddle Asia. The scenery is out of this world, without a doubt one of the most beautiful vistas I've seen anywhere on my travels. And making things even better is the fact you get to do it far from the maddening crowds in the north-east corner of the Bay. I did a two day trip with Run and am really pleased I took this option, as one day isn't enough to appreciate the stunning beauty of the Bay and its many isles. The overnight stay in a village on the island of Koh Yao Noi was also really pleasant.

Thanks a lot for coming with us and for explaining that a day isn't really enough. I mean, if that's all the time you've got, then it is what it is, but the bay is worth as much time as you can spare.
We hope to see you again one of these days. We've still got plenty to show you.

We just completed a two night, three day paddling trip in Phang Nga Bay with Khun Run and his team. The three of us are experienced paddlers and backpackers, and we had an absolutely wonderful time! The food was very good thanks to Chef Bun. The kayaks and gear were comfortable, and we had a longtail and a small zodiac chase boat for safety. We were very happy to support the local team from Koh Yao Noi, rather than an outside organization. The team was very conscious of limiting plastic use and picking up any trash they encountered.
But all this is just irrelevant. Khun Run knows every inch of the region and it was absolutely breathtaking. Each day we felt could never top the last. Beautiful water and swimming, incredible cliffs, magical hongs, excellent paddling, we had a blast!
Camping just made the whole experience that much more immersive. That said, facilities are necessarily primitive, so one must expect both the luxury of being waited on hand and foot, and also very basic camping accomodations and bathroom facilities. If that is not your style, then I am sure the three day trip with hotel accommodations is "almost" as good :).

A belated thanks for coming with us and for the detailed/accurate description. Yes, camping is very different from the bungalow option on our adventures. Both are nice in their own way.
Take care and keep in touch.

I recently (6-7 Sept) did a one-night tour with Paddle Asia, and as usual (this was my 3rd tour with them since 2018) the organisation & experience were superb. Mr Run is a great guide - knowledgeable, resourceful & good company. He always varies the day’s tour itinerary based on lots of factors: sea conditions as well as the experience levels & capabilities of the tour participants. The overnight accomodation was basic, but still very comfortable.
Touring with Paddle Asia is a great way to see the parts of Phang Nga Bay that other tour operators ignore. If you want to do any kayaking whilst in Phuket, Paddle Asia is your best bet.

Somebody mentioned in a previous review, that thé guide, Mr.Run,apologised when they met other tourists. The Phang Nga bay is so big and so diverse that you really dont need to go to ,James Bond Island" or simmilar tourist traps. We have just finished day two of our five day kayaking trip and we really enjoy the experience.

Yep, sometimes we accidentally meet other travelers, but it's not often... thankfully.
I'm glad James Bond Island exists. It keeps folks out of "our" area. 😊😉

Nov. 2022 I am a spry 84. Back in 2006 my husband and I enjoyed kayaking with Paddle Asia. We had a wonderful time, so I was thrilled when our family was able to visit Thailand and spend another two days with Paddle Asia. Going into caves, lunches on the beach - all wonderful just as I remembered. Run and his team were always helpful and even served us fresh chilled coconuts. The huts (much nicer than a hut) for our overnight were air conditioned and very comfortable. Owner, Dave Williams, was very easy to work with setting up our trip. He even recommended an excellent restaurant near the resort where we were staying. Paddle Asia is a great experience for old and young and anyone in between!

My son and I expected a quiet day paddling around the calm and picturesque Phang Nga Bay. We began with our friendly local guide, Mr. Ya, taking us to a secret lagoon filled with mangrove trees and colonies of noisy cat-sized fruit bats dangling from above. This was followed by us paddling to a shallow cave at another karst for a tasty lunch, and more paddling to another neat karst. Then, unexpectedly the weather changed. The calm was interrupted by strong winds and a downpour. We found shelter in a recess along the prickly limestone wall. When the wind and rain died, we paddled again, riding choppy rolling waves in our yellow kayaks, following our guide to a stunningly beautiful cove. What an awesome ride! Thrilling, but safe at all times with Mr Ya looking after us. Big round of high fives, big smiles on our faces--my son, Mr Ya and myself--at the beach, where the longtail picked us up, with us happy to do this all over again. Dave, never thought we would have such a fantastic finale to our holiday in Phuket!

Thank you very, very much for coming with us and for taking the time to write this lovely review. Yes, I prefer a mixture of weather too. No one remembers blue skies. ;-) You've now got stories.
I have passed your praise onto Mr. Ya. He was very happy to hear that you enjoyed yourselves.
Take care and keep in touch.

Ideal day-trip in Phang Nga Bay. SO MUCH better than the "masses of people" excursions...just the two of us with one guide...this is the trip for you if you don't want to be crammed into another speedboat with 30 new "friends." Price is a bit higher than the others, but the small groups and personalization make it well worth it. On very short notice, Dave arranged a flawless trip. Our guide, Yah, was excellent; the food was delicious (and customized--we are vegetarian). And importantly, if you are an experienced paddler, you are in a sit-inside kayak that you paddle yourself (a legit kayaking experience). We got "up close" with beautiful islands, birds, and monkeys. LOVED THIS TRIP AND THIS OUTFITTER.

We did the Phang Nga Bay day trip with Paddle Asia last fall. I found Paddle Asia's representative, Dave, to be extremely helpful right from the moment of first contact. He was in touch regularly and even gave us weather updates right up until the night before - so we could ensure we didn't kayak on a stormy day.
The tour itself was quite the trek from Patong beach - a van came to pick us up from our hotel and took us to a pier that was probably an hour to an hour and a half away. We then went on a public ferry to a pier near Phang Nga Bay, followed by a private longtail boat which took us to a beach where we began our excursion. The trek was definitely long and tiring.
The kayaking excursion was very cool - we got to go into some lagoons and caves that can only be reached by kayak. We were the only two people on this particular tour so we got a lot of flexibility in terms of how long we wanted to spend in certain locations. We took breaks every so often to hangout at some quiet beaches and were served a delicious Thai lunch. There were many sightings of giant fruit bats, interesting birds and I believe we even saw a tarantula (terrifying!).
Our guide was a Thai man whose name escapes me now - he was very pleasant and cheerful. I do think he could have done a better job of explaining things to us and being more of a "tour guide." It would have been nice to have him point out things as we kayaked along - or even just a bit of banter. Instead we just found he just paddled in silence in front of us. He may have been new to the whole tour guide thing but overall we were a bit disappointed with him.
Overall it was a very cool experience.

We are staying in Khao Lak so it looks to be a very long drive from there to the starting point in Phuket. Do you run any tours out of the North part of the bay or could you recommend any other operators?

If you go to the Paddleasia website there is a price link in the menu and a button at the bottom of every page. I can't put a link to the page here as TA doesn't allow hyperlinks in answers, sorry.

Hi do you conduct tours in the month of July?
dave w
Phuket Town, Thailand73 contributions
We operate every month. July can have some brief showers. Rain does not detract from the experience, it actually adds to it. If there is lightning, we go to a beach or get back on the longtail escort boat until it passes.

So sorry for the delayed response. I didn't notice the notification for a question. Most folks email us.
We're always busy during the holiday period, so I'm sure we'll have something for you to join. You can email. Go to the Paddle Asia website for details.
Again, sorry for the delayed response.

Hi, do you pick up and drop off from Grand West Sands Resort in Phuket? Can we do 1 day kayaking trip with 2 adults and 2 kids (9&10 years old)? How much is the price?
dave w
Phuket Town, Thailand73 contributions
Yes, transfers from anywhere in Phuket are included in the trip price.
Yes, your children are old enough to join. We have a large fleet of both single and two-person kayaks. The paddling is easy, so if they're 'sporty' and fit, they can paddle single... they're welcomed to paddle in a double with a parent alternatively.
We offer a cozy way to explore world-famous Phang Nga Bay's many stunning islands, caves and mangrove channels that is completely different from all other operators. Even though the bay is extremely popular and gets hordes of tourists daily, we don't see them. We specialize in getting away from other tourists. Luckily, everyone else goes to the NW corner of the bay or the southern regions, we go to the NE corner... just as beautiful, just as much to offer and many paddling options.
We usually go to Ko Roi (has a hidden inner island lagoon), Ko Kudu Noi and Ko Kudu Yai when we do day trips. There are nice cliffs on the Kudu islands as well as some small secluded beaches. Potential wildlife sightings include Brahminy Kites (raptors), White-bellied Sea Eagles, Long-tail Macaques (monkeys), Brown-winged Kingfishers, Collared Kingfishers and Water Monitor Lizards.
Our one-day trip costs 4,300 Baht per person (cash) and includes transfers from anywhere on Phuket, all equipment, lunch, snacks, water, and insurance. Both of your kids are half price.
Please fill out our online 'contact us' form on paddleasia

Hi there,
Is there a minimum age requirement for kids? We have a soon-to-be 4 year old and a 6 year old.
Thanks!

Which trip interests you? Khao Sok is very, very easy paddling. Phang Nga Bay can be a bit more challenging.
We don't really have an age requirement as children's abilities vary so greatly.
I hope this helped.

Hi, my husband and I will be visiting Phuket on July 31st to August 3rd. Do you have any sail trips to Phi Phi around this timing? Understand it is monsoon season, is it still safe to go to Phi Phi around this time?
Hear from you soon. Thanks!
dave w

Hi Celine,
We're a kayaking company. We don't offer sailing trips. We only paddle up in the bay, not around Phi Phi.
The weather can be quite changeable this time of the year. We have been experiencing extremely strong winds for the past week+. It's difficult to predict the weather around Phi Phi as it is subject to the direct SW monsoon wind.
Best of luck,
Dave
