We did an elephant trekking short 10 minutes trip thinking we would be contributing to preserving the animals and give the possibility to our young daughter to do something different. The trekking was ok but when we have finished the guy started hitting the poor elephant big time with a wooden and metal tool which made us feel terrible about our choice. In the picture attached you can see the guy with the tool with which he was beating the poor animal. Never again this place should be shut down and we apologize for having been part of this.

Terrible, unfortunately I was not able to read reviews before otherwise I had avoid this experience. I confirm that after we finished the trip and turned the corner the guy on top of the elephans was hitting our elephant. We have pictures about that so you don’t have excuses!!! Horrible bad bad bad! Hope this cruelty will be discovered soon.

My partner and I went on the ATV tour and next to the tour shed is the elephants. The elephants are BEING TREATED BAD!!! They have their legs chained together with no space and cannot move and the baby is kept in the hot sun. It is absolutely NOT ETHICAL!!! The ATV tour was pretty average and just takes you on a super bumpy dirt road with not much to see. You kinda just follow the guides and they don't tell you anything about the area but they were nice enough. OVERALL, I wouldn't recommend to anyone based on both the experience and the abuse of the elephants. Elephants are supposed to be very sacred here but are treated like slaves.

Prior to our trip to Phuket, i have read about elephant abuse from this forum and vowed not to support any of the elephant trekking activities. However, the driver we hired for a day tour managed to convinced my elder girl how fun it would be and she was begging for us to bring her to see the elephants on our way up to the big Buddha. It was a BIG mistake. Upon reaching we could see a baby elephant chained under the hot sun with a very short chain. Then the first trainer who took my hub and elder girl was extremely grumpy, he kept hitting the elephant on the head with a metal hook to get him in the right position for them to get on. It was a terrible and depressing sight. Whilst i got a friendlier trainer, the initial part of the trek was pretty scary. The elephant i had was moaning as he descended the hill and was shaking quite abit. I was terrified and asked to turn back immediately. On my way back, I saw more elephants chained on the sides all looking extremely tired and sad with no food at sight. It is truly depressing and i felt miserable that we are supporting the mistreatment indirectly.

after visit big buddha we went into the elephant trekking near by and got exactly the same experience as many others. total overpriced, money begging, trying to sell things on the trip and the worst thing was that it was our feeling that the animals were not being treated well.
