    Monitor the drivers
The SMART BUS service is usually very good. But there are still some flaws, especially with one or two drivers. The BUS is usually early and doesn't wait, so if so allow 15 minutes early rather than 45 minutes late if it is due on the hour The drivers allow Thais to board the bus and also to get off in between set stops, but do not allow foreigners to do that. Today the driver was really unpleasant and should not be allowed anywhere near tourists. You should monitor what they charge, whether they give you a ticket, and if they allow you to get off where you want to. Some drivers - probably most are very good, but one or two are not..

    Good service but needs improving!
Spent 2 weeks in Phuket. I bought a rabbit card from the bus driver (cost 300baht). It is a cheap way of travelling, for example from Kamala to Patong: 50 baht or from Kamala to Rawai: 100 baht, Kamala to the Airport:150 baht. If you don't want to have a card than a single journey will cost you 170 baht (even if it's a one stop trip). For me having a rabbit card was the best way to see the resorts (Kamala, Kata, Karon, Patong, Surin, Rawai) and cheaper compared to tuk tuks (that can charge 300 baht for a 5km trip). You can top up the rabbit card in McDonald's, Burger King,Tesco Lotus with a minimum of 100 bahts. The bus is very comfortable with air conditioning. The main flaw of the bus service is the time table. One bus an hour. And mostly bus isn't on time.Sometimes I would wait 35 mins on the bus stop. Having experienced the service I decided I didn't want to use the bus to get to the Airport as I was scared I would be late. I believe the service needs improving. There should be at least 3 buses. There should be somebody on the bus to help confused passengers as at the moment it isn't fair on the bus driver to drive, sell fares, informed passengers etc. I remember that sometimes we would wait on the bus stop 10 mins because some people needed information and guidance. No wonder the buses are so late. I recommend the service but I hope it will get improved. At the moment it's a cheap service but you need time and patience to get from point A to B.

    A reasonable option
Easy inexpensive way to get from airport to the area your staying. Cost is 100 baht from airport. I stayed in Karon. Cost of taxi to Karon is 800 baht. You may be able to negotiate cheaper through bolt or in-Driver. Taxi takes about 1 hour. Bus around 1:30. Bus has air conditioning, although it’s not great. I recommend paying attention to where the bus is in relation to where you are going. I have seen the drivers take passengers well past the drop off point because while the passenger told the driver there stop when they got on, an hour later the driver did not remember, and the passenger had no idea where they were. An honest mistake, but annoying if you are the passenger. Know where your accommodation is in relation to the drop off point, and factor that in. My hotel was a 15 minute walk from the bus stop, mostly uphill, and not on roller friendly Streets. First time I made the mistake of walking it. Second time I took a cab from the drop off point. Cab is much more expensive in Phuket then some other areas, but still only 200 baht, for a total cost of 300 baht, and a 500 baht savings. I did not attempt the return trip to the airport. In summary, if cost is you’re number one priority, this is a reasonable option. If You prefer a more comfortable, hassle free, let me know when we’re there experience, opt for a cab service. See my other reviews for a cab recommendation.

This service is reliable, cheap, air conditioned and frequent. The only down side is the considerable distance between designated stops.

We used the Phuket smart bus this morning to travel from Karon stadium stop to Patong Beach. We found the bus clean, comfortable and efficient as it arrived on time. It was unclear, however, where the bus stop was located for the return. The information on line says PEA. It was clear when we found the spot, outside the Patong Electricity Authority, and on the roadway travelling south. Sadly we either, just missed the bus or it was running late. We waited 20 mins, then decided to take a taxi. Our rating is based on the first trip taken.

This is a great way to get to the beaches, and airport. To avoid the taxi prices here in Patong, they are out of control. From phuket international airport to Rawai beach. It stops at Patong,Karon 2 stops and Kata 2 stops .Ive used it 4times already and it was on time and it is clean, comfortable, has aircon, with vents, and saftey belts.I noticed you can wave it down from anywhere on the route if you see it coming but it has proper bus stops. It also has spots for your luggage up front. The bus has about 40 seats in it
100baht cash for 1 stop or 15 stops.A must to try

Good budget option to get to airport. Clean and air conditioned. Our experience was positive. We enjoyed a slow ride and seeing the scenery, gave us spare money to spend in a meal at the airport. We weren’t fussed about getting to the airport quickly and had the time. Highly recommended.

A very affordable way to get between locations on the coast. Buses are comfortable and have air con. Take the timetable with a pinch of salt, however, as it was always quite late. Also when I was in Naiyang Beach we were able to flag it down on the main road opposite the Family Mart at the top of the Soi Bangmalauw , rather than walking to the airport to catch it.

The good: this is a cheap, easy, air conditioned way to make your way along the Phuket coast from the airport all the way to Rawai beach. It runs more or less hourly. It makes frequent stops and will drop you almost anywhere they can safely stop.
The not so great: Most drivers are cheerful and skillful drivers. One was a complete miserable jerk. Sometimes the schedule is waaaay off. They say you can flag them down but that’s mostly not true - so be at a stop (which is sometimes hard to find). Mostly, they were within 15 minutes, but we were at the stop at Rawai at 6:45 pm (the last bus to the airport was supposed to be 7), but it never showed. The next bus that came was at 8:20 and he said he was the 8pm bus and didn’t go to the airport. Not bad for us - we just went to Karon. But one young man was then stranded. He was understandably upset and argued with the driver. The driver pushed him away from the bus and the young man pushed his hand away. The driver went to the back of the bus and looked to be taking out a stick or pipe of some kind. Several people intervened and the young man left. But the driver was that miserable jerk who regularly yells at people and purposely doesn’t stop when even I can see someone is waving and trying to make it to the stop. Ugh!
So… generally great, occasionally really lousy. No help number to call where anyone answers. But really, a 10 day pass is 1000 baht (about $40 Cdn), for unlimited rides - 100 baht for a single ride. So it was a no brainer for us (we got about 18 rides out of it). We took taxis back if we missed the ride.
It’s a 2 star if you want reliable public transport, but a 4 star if you look at it as we did - a cheap fun way to ride up and down the coast.

I am deeply upset by the fact that the bus does mot run to the airport after 6pm.

This would be fine if it was clearly communicated on the website or if the head office would answer calls to give customers the relevant information. i have wasted so much time now and still have to get an additional taxi from Patong to airport.

This service sucks!

When you exit the international airport, make your way through the domestic airport to the other side to find the bus.

I took the bus both ways from Phuket Airport - Patong beach (Junceylon stop) and Patong (Bangla Police Box) - Phuket Airport.

Phuket Airport - Patong (Jungceylon)
The staff asks for your destination hotel when you first board. The bus filled up quickly for me, and there were 2 passengers who did not have seats, but were asked if they minded seating on the large front cushion behind the driver. They did not mind, and the bus set off almost exactly on time at 1pm.

On the way, the bus driver stops for passengers who flag down the bus and to let off other passengers. He remembered the destinations that he has to stop at, and announces it to the passengers when he stops. For eg. he will stop at a bus stop and announces "A HOTEL", "B HOTEL", "C HOTEL". it is the passengers job to be attentive, and to make their own way to their hotel from the bus stop after. The bus stop need not be an obvious or official bus stop, but will be the nearest drop off point along the bus route that the bus driver can reasonably stop.

From Phuket airport to Jungceylon took me about 1 hr and 15 mins. Wifi was fast and did not require passwords.

Patong(Bangla Police Box) - Phuket Airport
The bus arrived at 7.27. We boarded and waited until 7.30 where we left exactly on the dot. Despite the rain and a huge traffic jam in between the route, the whole journey only took 1 hr and 10 mins.

The smart bus is pretty damn amazing and only costs 100 baht per passenger. I had a great experience. legit.
