Sharkey Scuba is a family owned PADI dive center in Karon, Phuket. We are complete diving fanatics as our guests will testify! Started in 2002, the owners, Oui and Iain alone, have been teaching and guiding in Phuket for almost 35 years between us. We were the first company in Phuket to exclusively offer private scuba diving courses from complete beginner to professional level. We also arrange day trips and Thailand liveaboards. Every guest is very important to us which is why we offer a highly personalised service including hotel visits and after dive events. Wherever you are staying in Phuket we can help with free transfers for dive trips from all of the following towns: Karon, Patong, Kata, Kamala and Chalong. Dive courses, day trips, Similans liveaboards - just ask and we will help.

Wanting to try out diving whilst in Thailand we found Sharkey Scuba after some research on Google and booked the 3 Dives Platinum Discover Scuba package.
From the moment we enquired and started the booking process, Iain and Oui were very supportive, responsive and personal.
This did continue on the day itself and we got one on one training and support during all of our three dives. The dives themselves were fantastic and Oui's trained eye discovered a lot of fish and corals we probably would have missed and pointed them out to us This included several Moraines, an Octupus, Cleaner Wrasses and many more.
Iain and Oui are very experienced and love what they are doing, (Oui seemed more than once more excited by what we spotted than ourselves). This enthusiasm of both of them made the experience special and us feel comfortable at all times.
I would highly recommend Sharkey to anyone looking for diving experiences in Phuket!

I am so very happy I went with Sharkey Scuba in Phuket! I was only in Phuket for a short amount of time, but I always heard Thailand has some of the best scuba diving in the world. Well take it from me.... it's true! Going down there, you encounter a whole new world of amazing biodiversity! It's a nature show come to life. There were so many different species and none of them were shy. The waters are nice warm which makes for a very pleasurable experience.
The reason I selected Sharkey Scuba was due to their person touch. Iain and I were emailing back and forth and he made me feel very comfortable. Like the website says, you are matched with a very experienced guide and they guide you all the way down safely and make you feel incredibly safe. For many, this is a new experience..... and being 30 feet below surface is something I take very seriously. So I wanted that personal touch. I am not the best swimmer and I am very inexperienced with being in the ocean, but the whole way their I felt very safe.
Iain and his wife Oui, both have a beloved passion for being underwater and are like mermaid and merman! Their passion got me excited and confident. They will take amazing care of you. You instantly become family with them (and fyi... they are the owners) and you will have one of the most memorable experience you've ever had in your life. I see why people get addicted to it. Even the next day, I still had a high.
When choosing which company to go with, go with the best. I did my research as a nervous, yet excited beginner and it led me to Sharkeys. After doing the dive, I know I made the right decision. Combined, I was under for 1 hour and it was simply amazing!

I have been lucky enough to dive all around the world and I know what makes a good dive centre. Sharky’s we’re excellent from booking to dropping off. Their rental gear is top class, the attention to safety paramount and the boat they use is very easy to get gear on and off, all things that separate good dives from excellent ones. My son was diving for the first time and he was made to feel relaxed straight away. He initially only wanted to do one dive, but because the experience was so good, he actually did 3 dives on the trip. My younger son was also looked after by one of the team. He snorkelled whilst we dived and loved it. Highly recommend Iain, Oui and the team.

Had a great discovery session today with Sharkey Scuba!
Iain and Oui were so great from the moment we contacted them and were very accommodating to our schedule (we unexpectedly got sick and had to change the date last minute). Iain communicated quickly, made sure we were well informed beforehand, and didn’t hesitate to let us know we should wait to dive another time when we got sick.
Oui was our instructor, she’s super knowledgeable and kind. She guided us the whole time and made sure we were comfortable and felt safe. You can tell they have a passion for scuba and are happy to share it with everyone.
Would definitely recommend Sharkey Scuba!

We spent a full day doing three dives with Iain in Phuket and really enjoyed our experience with him. He was patient with us, shared fun facts about the dive spots & marine life and guided us on how we would approach the dive. Iain's philosophy was to take things slowly and to always be on the safer side, which definitely helped to allay my fears around diving. Beyond diving, we appreciated how he took the time to get to know us and what we could learn from his life experience. We definitely enjoyed our dive day with him and would recommend him to anyone!

We contacted sharkey scuba to do a refresher for myself and discover scuba for my wife. Iain was our point of contact and right from the start, he was friendly, helpful and gave all the information we needed in quick time. It was my first time diving in Phuket so there were many questions asked and he was patient and answered all of them.
On the day of the dive, the pickup from hotel was on time and confortable. We met Julie, our instructor at the pier and she helped us organise our dive gear and get settled on the boat. we went through some information regarding the dive and she helped us refresh some diving theories. The dive gear we rented was in good condition and the boat was comfortable and not too crowded.
In the water, Julie was calm and very patient with my wife who was diving for the first time. She also helped me with my bouyancy and breathing technique which significantly reduced the amount of weight and air I needed per dive. She also took many photos and videos for us.
It was a fantastic experience and we look forward to diving with Sharkey Scuba and Julie again on our next trip ! Highly reccommended dive center with a personal touch.

I spent two months this year with Sharkey Scuba to complete my PADI divemaster and I could not have had a better, more instructive and more memorable experience than I had with them. Sharkey is a small and intimate family business run by Iain and Oui, which made for a very personal atmosphere. It also meant that at all times, at least one of them was with me on dives and was able to give immediate feedback afterwards (and also gush about all the beautiful marine life around Phuket).
They are both incredibly kind, dedicated and so enthusiastic about their job, each day is thoughtfully and responsibly planned to make sure their divers have an awesome, yet safe experience. Diving with them I always felt safe and well taken care of in every respect, in and out of water. They take their time with briefings so every question is answered and they taught me so much about marine life, dive procedures and diving in general. Their experience speaks volumes in terms of safety, fun and knowledge. Diving really is their passion and you can tell from the way they go about their jobs!
During my time with them I saw Iain and Oui work with divers of any level. Whether it is beginners or experienced divers, everyone's needs are met with such empathy. Regardless of age and whether you are doing a course or fun dives, they are awesome teachers and are always ready to share tips and give feedback to help you become a better and more confident diver. They are attentive and do their best to answer questions, ease insecurities and solve problems along the way, so their guests can enjoy themselves and have a memorable time. I never got that anonymous feeling of being just another name on a list like I had with other shops. Instead, Iain and Oui go out of their way to get to know their guests on a personal level, whether it is talks on the sun deck in between dives or grabbing dinner together after a fun day of diving.
During my time diving with Iain and Oui almost every day, I made two incredible new friends and I am already looking forward to coming back to Sharkey Scuba. Becoming a divemaster with Iain and Oui was such a special, fun and memorable time with lessons and experiences I will cherish forever. Thank you both for being such fantastic instructors, under and above sea level!

I completed my advanced open water diving course with Oui from Sharkey Scuba and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Oui was knowledgeable, patient, passionate about diving and explained everything clearly so I could advance my skills with confidence. And as an added bonus, Oui is incredibly funny and just had a beautiful soul

If you want the best holiday experience, we highly recommend Sharkey Scuba in Phuket! Good dialogue and information before the excursion and a magical day with two amazing dives with Swedish-born dive instructor Qui. She made our holiday perfect. She instructed and guided our two teenagers through the first dives of their lives. Many will follow.

Amazing family run business with a true passion for diving and nature! My boyfriend and I did three dives (diacover diving) at Racha Yay and Noi, which we really enjoyed and highly recommend to anyone interested in trying out diving. I was firstly in touch with Iain who was super responsive and so lovely over emails. Oui was our instructor on the day and she was fantastic. This was our first time and she really taught us all the essentials and most importantly we felt very safe with her. She was also super friendly and we had great time chatting to her on the boat. Iain and her really love diving and teaching other people to discover the underwater world. We had truly great time diving with Oui and saw many tropical fish and even a seasnake which was cool! She also took some photos of us which was super nice of her. Apart from diving, the whole day was great and the food on the boat was delicious. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We definitely will be diving again and recommending Sharkey Scuba to our friends!

HI, thank you for your message. Children are allowed to accompany on the trip as long as they are over 2 years old. However, they will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times due to their age. The 8 year old is welcome to snorkel but is too young to try the diving as the minimum age is 10.

Hi, I’m coming to Thailand in June and would love to do some diving. I have done scuba diving a couple of times now. Once in a training centre and once in Gran Canaria going around 8/10 metres down. What would the best thing for me to do? Many thanks Gav

Bientôt à l’hôtel Katathani Phuket Beach Resort, y a t'il des sorties snorkeling dans de belles eaux turquoises (pas de plongée avec combinaison et bouteille) sur des iles pas trop loin de mon hôtel, pas plus de 2h1/2 de traversée et si possible où il n’y a pas de déchargement massif de touristes. Restez sur la plage pour bronzer ou me balader ne m’interesse pas trop je préfère passer plus de temps dans l’eau à explorer la faune sous marine. Lors d’un premier voyage en Thailande j’ai fais les iles Surin où j’ai beaucoup apprécié la faune.
Pourquoi pas RACHA YAI ISLAND et RACHA NOI ?
ou sinon un autre site mais que pour du snorkeling ?
Je souhaite voir des poissons tropicaux variés colorés, (clown, peroquet, anémone colorée,raie manta, tortues, hippocampes ….)
