Spent a delightful day at the Dongtan Natural Nature Reserve wetlands on Chongming Island. After walking to the subway, we got the bus and travelled through the tunnel to cross to Changxing Island, next crossed a long bridge to Chongming Island and finally a taxi to our destination, the nature Park where we hired bikes. Away from the hectic shoppers, cars and bikes of Shanghai it was so nice to have clean air and explore the paths around the waterways. Travelling with a Chinese friend it was fun to experience so many modes of transport, and very clearp. It took around 3'hrs. It was a Friday, so not so many people. As it was summer we did not experience the bird life as in spring or autumn, but we did see an alligator basking in the sun which was a bonus to the day.

Very pretty Island close to shanghai. the weather quality is ten times better than shanghai and you get the chance to take a look at the sea. Unfortunately there is no beach or the place that you can swim. We went to a park in middle of the Island and rented a bike and enjoyed the ride. I would suggest this place for a calm and relaxing weekend. We went on Sunday and it was not crowded at all (compare to Chinese standard touristic places.)
