This is just a HUGE forest. Rent the bike!
If you want to get lost in a forest, this is for you. The place is much much larger than what the map looks like. The paths are well maintained and the areas are quite pretty.

Just note that there is usually nothing of special interest while walking. It is a forest.
Several activity areas are set up (grass skiing, go karting, deer enclosure, etc...)
The deer pen is a big fenced off area. No way to interact with the deer. Didnt try the others as the weather was very hot.

Sadly aside from the starting area and the restaurant, there is no way to buy water. Also you must have bought the mini train ticket from the main gate before you are allowed to ride. So no riding it back if you walked. Same goes for the bike... rent and return near the entrance.... otherwise enjoy the loooooong walk back.
Personally this is a bad design management.

Overall, its a nice visit but you MUST prepare and plan well. Activities would be nicer in cooler weather.

I regret to say I have not been here earlier. This is so green, so quiet, and yet so close to Shanghai. You can hire bikes and drive around. There are activities to be done (karting, paintball shooting, bumper cars, boats) but you might ad well just enjoy the tranquility and the beautifull nature. It is a pity it is not easy to get there from Shanghai center without car (on the other hand that means also of course it is not terribly crowded).

I went there thinking I will have lots of great pictures. However, I only saw a few areas to take photos which are nice. What I liked about it though was that I was able to breathe in fresh air and ride a bike freely (20RMB/hr) because it wasn't crowded even though it was a Satuday. Saw some birds but nothing really special. Rest rooms were unexpectedly clean and not smelly.

Not much food options so better bring a picnic basket. It's about a 2-hour drive from Pudong, Shanghai. Spend the whole day there to make the drive worth your while.

Been there once and won't probably be back again. It would be great if they could develop the property even more though.

Spacious and in some areas little crowded forest with plentiful of plants, flowers, trees, lakes and a herd of deers. Walk or bike - ideal fir families with smaller children with various different themed parks, and an amusement area. Like all parks in Shanghsi, they close too early at 16:30.

We've finally managed to get to Chongming island and were surprised by the real nature feel it has with low-rise buildings and greenery everywhere - great to clear the lungs. The park is big and best explored by bike (there are several rental places, the one inside the park is a bit cheaper, but it takes a while to walk there if you arrived by bus / taxi). We went for a day only and understood it's better to stay on the island overnight as getting there takes 2 to 3 hours one way (we took a bus), and there are loads of places to see on the island besides the Dongping park. The bus that leaves from the Science and Technology museum is not very handy for the Dongping park as it's on the other end of the island but great for the nearby wetlands.

Lots of nature and easy to walk around because of the trails. You can BBQ there too. It's has the BBQ grill so convenient but more Chinese BBQ with a lot of people and big groups drinking but not too overbearing. Not the quite BBQ in nature experience. I went with my colleagues and fun. The park is nice to walk around and you can experience some activities like horseback riding but a very small loop, go-cart and boating.

Great park for a fun day away from Shanghai city center. Fresh air, beautiful trees and flowers. Rent a bicycle to ride around and explore the large park .
