    Very impressive
We did both the gorilla and golden monkey walks. The gorillas are majestic and the experience unforgettable. We saw a family of about 10 gorillas including the dominant silverback and several babies. The guide was very knowledgeable, and for-hire porters provided help as needed. We chose the medium difficulty hike (each hike traverses the jungle to specific gorilla families, with harder hikes higher in the mountain). It was good exercise, but not terribly hard if in reasonable shape. The big wildcard though is mud as it’s frequently rainy - we were lucky to have a dry day. We understand when muddy, the treks are much more challenging. The golden money walk is easy and nice. We didn’t find it as interesting or special as the gorillas (which might be obvious) - I think it’s a nice activity, but also skippable if pressed for time

    Mount Bisoke Volcano
Volcanoes NP is not only an excellent destination for gorilla trekking, but also great for a hike up Mount Bisoke Volcano. We met up at the Park HQ in Kinigi at 07:00 am, registered and paid for a hiking permit, rented some gaiters, enjoyed freshly brewed cappuccino, and were briefed by a ranger on the hike. Afterwards we drove together to the trailhead, hired porters, and were on our way. The ranger, porters and guards ensured we had an excellent hike up the mountain and showed us many interesting plants and animals along the way. We were back at trailhead around 15:30, hopped in our car and were back in Kigali by dusk. Highly recommended!

    Unforgettable experience for the gorillas.
Wow, no other world. Amazing place, friendly staff and an unforgettable experience. The park headquarter is great to buy souvenirs, gather with your group and share a coffee in the morning. We did the gorilla trek and we were lucky to see the Susa family group. It was a short 1 hour that will rest in our memories for the rest of our life.

    Not to be missed!
Truly a dream come true that was only made better by our guide Christoff and our porters. The climb through the farmlands, where we were greeted by those cultivating the land, brought us to the forest entrance. After about an hour climb we came upon a family of one silverback and 3-4 other family members. The next 60 minutes were the fastest of a life time as we watched the gorillas romp, preen, eat and yes even charge another member. These gentle giants are incredible to observe and Volcanoes National Park and its dedicated staff are the perfect team to do it with!

We loved this hike! Challenging and muddy so wear good shoes. A great reward when arriving to the top with a lovely view over the crater. We even saw a gorilla from a far distance, so lucky!

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park - an 'out of this world' experience. Do not have words to describe this magical experience. The guides & porters were fantastic, offering help when needed and giving us info on the family. We visited the Hirwa family....the silverback & little ones playing were so special to witness. An experience we will never forget. You have to come experience this for yourself!
