This places is just off the Kata beach and a great location to relax in the afternoon and watch the sunset and enjoy a cold beer and some bar snacks while watching people surf the artificial wave. We did not do the wave surfing ourselves but the prices seemed reasonable. Friendly staff and good service

Really cool venue. The surf pool is fun and not too expensive. The drinks are ok- not the best. I think beer is a better choice. If you don’t want to try to surf then it is fun to watch. There is also a nice surf shop.

Kids aged 12 & 13 did the one hour boogie boarding here and learnt the tricks of the trade relatively quickly. One was bored after and hour, the other wanted to keep going. Not for everyone but safe, with good instructors, pricing is on the steep side but overall enjoyable and worthwhile. Restaurant is good and offers great vantage points to watch the activity.

Hi there
Thank you so much for visiting us! We are glad you hop on the FlowRider afterall and enjoyed it. We appreciate your feedbacks on pricing and will do our best to keep prices competitive, especially amongst other beachfront venues of Kata Beach.
If you do come back, hit us up closer to the evening as well to catch the epic sunset!
Keep recommending Surf House!

Only 2 people seem to be able to use this great little virtual-surf machine at a time. If you are a local club member prices are ok but for visitors some of the prices are just crazy. When you add to that the fact that it is located in a very expensive beach bar (the ONLY beach bar on Kata beach) I really wouldn't bother.

Hi there
Thank you for your review!
We offer the FlowRider along with other services such as F&B, retail, music and clean air-conditioned washrooms to our guests and we will continue to explore ways to value add to visits, but within our means to accommodate a big group on a shared use basis.
We hope you had a great stay in Phuket and do keep well and travel safe!

There are a range of different prices for this experience which is also in a seaside bar so drink prices are already very expensive. Club members get a substantial discount but they need to be more realistic on the packages they offer, not everyone wants to spend an hour on this thing and many would just want a 10 minute try first. There is only room for 2 people at a a time. Nice idea, poorly thought-out and priced.

Hi there
Thank you for your review on Surf House! We will review if our hour long session is indeed too much.
In order to enjoy the FlowRider, a specific skill set has to be developed over time and many riders do appreciate having a few gos over an hour to appreciate the experience fully. There are options to booked out the entire wave as a private session but that would be a different price point from the shared use public session.
That said, we do hope you had a fantastic holiday in Phuket!
Safe travels.

Is this really what we've become? A race so terrified of nature that we have to surf on artificial waves made by a machine that's literally by the sea. Yeah, I can understand if you live in Kyrgyzstan or Nepal which don't have any seas whatsoever. At least try the real thing, what next VR washing up for the sterile OCD neurotic clean freaks 🤣. VR champagne cork removal for those so scared of flying objects. What a joke!

The Pros:
+ The staff around the Surf House is very nice and polite.
+ They force you to wear swimwear without zippers and buttons for safety reasons.
The Cons:
- They sell swimwear without zippers and buttons for extremely high prices.
- The people who actually guide the surfing lessons are not nice or polite at all.
- The only safety-advice they gave was to cover your head when you fall and take your arms up.
-> So did I and I ended up with a contusion of my spine and a dislocated vertebra. I was in pain for 10 days, had to see a doctor and the rest of my vacation was ruined.
I am a very sporty person: I do snowbarding, skiing, water-skii, swimming, diving, Taekwondo and I go to the gym twice per week. I am good at coordination and I know that you need to fall, when you wanna learn something new.
The problem about the Surf House is that they dont teach you how to fall. You get on the board without any idea what to do when you loose balance and if you fall, you dont fall in the water, but on a hard plastic surface and get catapulted upwards by the water stream.
After I landed up there, the only care the instructor had was to get me away so he could start with the next person. I paused for 20 mins, but then I felt that I seriously got hurt and no one cared about me and I left.
A friend living on Phuket told me afterwards that he knows a couple of people who are all very sportive and got broken ankles and ellbows on that thing...
I would really advice you to start the first round without a board - just to get familiar with the hard plastic underground and the water stream. Just practice falling 2 or 3 times and then start with a board.
And dont take your arms up as they told us. Its a normal instinct to put them down when you fall to reduce the impact.
And if you leave the upper level - always take the direct way out: Meaning if there are 2 slots for surfing - dont cross the other slot where someone might get catapulted upwards and hit you any time...

I’ve been to Wave House in Singapore and Flow House in Bangkok and enjoyed my time at both places. To be honest I hate to give 1 star for Surf House Phuket because it's a total rip-off. When I registered at Flow House Bangkok I paid regular fee (which was at promotional hour and I paid promotional rate) and got complementary discount for next sessions. Here in Phuket, we are charged a more expensive regular fare and a mysterious 200 baht 'registration fee' without getting anything. No member card, no extra benefit, no special deals, nothing. So what is the 200B for? Well, I think the answer is quite obvious, because it’s a touristy spot so they can get a lot of first timers ‘registration fee’ from tourists.
With that extra profit, unfortunately there’s no safety precautions provided. If you surf on the right lane (or left lane if you are a watcher) and fell, you have to walk back to the queue by passing the left lane with a high risk the surfer there fall and hit you while you are walking back to the queue. I tried to avoid this risk and walked to the exit at the right lane. To my surprise their safety mat is so worn out and slippery that I fell and landed on my lower back. Yes, it was my injury and not their responsibility at all. After seeing me fall, the instructor called me and said that next time I had to walk through the left lane because the mat on the right exit was slippery, but the one on the left was fine. So all this while they KNOW the mat is not in good condition, yet there’s nothing done by the management!
Final words: Don’t waste your money here.

Hi there
We will look into the issues you raised and improve on the safety warnings. Unfortunately pricings differs venue to venue and we would not compare ourselves with better venues that you have been.
Hope you enjoyed the rest of the holidays.

I paid 1000 baths to try the experience for one hour. It could have been a nice experience if only I could have done more than 10 try in one hour. I fell every 5 or 10 seconds and then for 10 minutes the "staff" was performing and excercising whereas they didn't pay. That was really not fair ! I didn't pay to see ! I paid to practice. And when I said that to the manager, he answered " Pro has to practice to teach you" What a funny answer ! The pro made 360, or others impossible tricks you can not do the first time and they didn't explain me anything. DON 'T DO IT IT"S A TOURIST TRAPP !
and the staff was not friendly at all. But the place is nice to have a drink.

Purchased an hour surfing and spent literally 4 minutes surfing. They seemed to pick their favorites and let them go over and over again. Not professional at all.

Hi Scott, how much was the early bird pass and what were the restrictions. We are staying in Kata for 10 nights and thought a multi pass would be good for the kids but can't find any details or pricing

Hi Tim P,
The price for a 7 day early bird card is 3990 and all access card is 7990.

For all other hours its 990 thb
hope this helps with your question
From what age the children are allowed for this activity

Hi! It seemed they have no age limit. I saw quite small brave children, before school age, but they were lying on the board, instructor sliding in the back controlling the event. They are very helpful there!

Hi Petr, its 1 hour shared with a group of riders. So everyone enters this queue and when you fall, you get back to the queue and wait for your turn to surf again.
Cheers

HI, Just wondering if this would be suitable for 6 & 7 year olds?
Erik O

Obviously depends on the kids, there is a level of 'danger' that squeamish kids may not like even though its quite safe. My 8 year old could not get enough. The staff said as low as 5 years old is acceptable. it still costs 1000 THB regardless of age.
its very fun.
