We did a 3 day 2 night liveaboard in the Similan Islands on the South Siam 4 boat with Michael (Scottish) as our instructor doing the SSI Advanced Adventurer course too.
The organisation was smooth on the part of Phuket Dive Tours from hotel pick up to drop off (at a different hotel). You pay a slight premium to go to the Similans vs other areas but it is worth it. We also made use of the package deal for Advanced SSI course which included private guide, all gear (very good, no complaints) and rental of dive computers.
We felt very safe and comfortable with Michael who gave good dive briefings, reassured us on our first night dive and would definitely dive with him again!
We were extremely lucky at the dive sites which weren't too busy seeing whale sharks, manta rays, white tip sharks, turtles and lots more.
Amazing trip - set the bar very high for our first liveaboard!

We had an amazing day heading to PhiPhi Island for 3 dives. Simon, our dive guide was super knowledgeable and made sure that all of our equipment was in order. He knew the dives sites very well and was able to point out amazing aquatic live that we may not have detected ourselves. He also took great pictures with his camera which he shared with us later on for a small, but very worthwhile fee. He made the dives fun and safe. David made us feel very welcome on board and was extremely entertaining. As we live in Singapore we will def be back and highly recommend booking with them.

i had a day trip for open water diver to phi phi island. When booking, not only were the standards queried, individual questions were also answered. There was a pick-up service from the hotel, modern large boat, high quality and suitable equipment, breakfast, lunch and snacks were included. Our guide Andre dealt with our concerns and questions individually and led us safely to the most beautiful diving spots (and took great photos). The best diving trip I've ever had!

I dealt with a couple of instructors, who I really liked:
- Roman, who was thorough with the refresher, gave some honest and detailed feedback. He makes sure you remember and (re)practice your skills. He even taught me new knowledge on breathing techniques.
- Michael K, who gave really good briefings before the dives, answered all our questions, made sure we were comfortable, and overall led us to a chilled out and safe dive.
I dealt with (one of?) the owner as well who gave recommendations, not only on diving, on how to get around Kata area, in general.
Their shop and lodging staff were also very helpful.
Overall a great place to dive and stay with.
Highly recommended! 👌🏽

Owner of the shop was down to earth and friendly. Very honest dive shop, visibility was poor one afternoon that I planned a dive so the owner recommended coming back the next day rather than taking money for a crap dive. Returned the following morning did a nice shore dive off Kata Beach, good visibility. Nice easy dive lots of fish and some nice coral. Plenty of schooling fish. Very cheap diving for Phuket 1500 baht for a single tank dive without being on a boat all day. Efficient centre with good quality equipment for sale and for customer usage.
The instructor i did the morning dive on morning of the 26th January was friendly and made his divers feel relaxed and comfortable. He even assisted divers with their equipment.He was also, always aware of where his divers were and kept a close eye on them. Good sense of humour to and patient.
Another instructor volunteered to fixed my mask as the seal had broken before my dive. Much appreciated! Excellent service and had a fun 1 hour dive. Exactly what I needed before I head off on a liveaboard in Similans.
Not surprised by all of the superb reviews that the dive shop has.
It is obvious this is a centre that should be used by beginner and experienced divers alike for the personal service that is offered.
Thank you very much Phuket Dive Tours, next time I am back I will be certain to book at least 6 dives in kata or daytours with your shop.

Almost only five star reviews, must be fake right? I though the same, but after doing the open water course over three days I can understand why. The instructors are great and the diving locations are very fun, all you need for a fantastic experience. It was also cheaper than the same course offered by other dive shops in Phuket.
We had three fantastic days with our great instructor Roman. His english was very good, and such a fun guy to learn from. The pool is a good size and depth to explore and learn about all the equipment in a calm and safe environment. With three days to do the course we had plenty of time during our ocean dives to do both the required exercises and also just explore the sea life. Highly recommend doing three days instead of just two, so it doesn't have to be rushed.
The boat we went on the trips with was large and safe. Good food and free drinks were also included. Everything was well organized and if we had any questions, David was really fast to answer on WhatsApp. During our stay we also ran into the other instructors, and they all seem like great people. Especially Mike (Michael) from Sweden was super friendly and greeted us in a fun way every day. Would love to come back and dive with Phuket Dive Tours again.
I want to say thanks again to Roman who provided us with the best possible introduction to the world of SCUBA-diving. The pictures he took during our dives were awesome. I would say we almost became friends during our training, and we had so much fun joking around. We really had a wonderful time, and I hope we meet again!

We recently dove with Phuket Dive Tours aboard the Mermaid. The day was well organized, and the provided transport was comfortable and easy. The boat was comfortable and organized, the food was great, and the crew was extremely helpful in all aspects of the dive. The dives were amazing.
We had the great pleasure of diving with Jon Parr at King Cruiser, Shark Point, and Koh Doc Mai.
Jon is extremely methodical and gave us the most thorough dive briefings we’ve had so far in the whole of our diving journey (Advanced Open Water for 2 years now). His detailed mapping, game plan, and contingency planning gave us the utmost confidence going into the dive. Where we are sometimes nervous going into the first dive of a day, with Jon we had full reassurance with made us energized and excited.
During the dives, he executed exactly to plan, and communicated clearly during potential branches in the plan, so we knew exactly where we were in the dive, and what was coming next. He also takes amazing photos, and does a great job of pointing out hard to see sea life sightings and picture opportunities while keeping safety at the top priority. It is clear he takes great pride in giving each and every diver the safest and most enjoyable experience, and we would highly recommend him to guide you at the Phuket dive sites.

Phuket Dive Tours; where to start. We travelled for 3 months and by far this was one of the best experiences we encountered. From the start, when we entered the shop l, we were greeted with so much warmth and care. Benz was so welcoming and provided us with great details about scuba diving. Benz even took us up to see David and the other instructors before making the decision to get our scuba diving license. David and the team provided us with so much information, which made us feel so comfortable about committing to the scuba diving course. We never felt forced to take the course but instead felt guided and at ease. For the course, our instructor was Beto who made the course itself so enjoyable. Beto is so knowledgeable, supportive, and overall just such a great instructor. Beto went out of his way to make sure that everyone personally felt comfortable and was doing okay. Beto was the reason that each day we felt confident and comfortable in the course. We can’t say enough positive things about Beto, if you get a chance to suggest an instructor, I would 100% recommend Beto. At the end of each day David greeted us at the boat and asked us if the equipment was good (which it was!) and if we were enjoying the course. This goes to show how much care is given to each student. Overall Phuket Dive Tours is such a pleasant place and if you are on the edge, I would suggest to just do it (you won’t regret it)! Thank you Phuket Dive Tours and everyone who made our diving course so special. P.S: take the catamaran: it a small group of people and in a nicer boat. The boat crew were so pleasant, wonderful, and went out of their way to ensure that guests had the best experience.

The best scuba diving in phuket,
Great dive site knowledge, very profession, excellent dive equipment, only use the best dive boats with great food and boat crews. David always goes over and beyond to make your dive trips effortless, nothing is to much trouble and every situation has a solution.
Can not recommend these guys more highly, there is a lot of good dive shops in Phuket but only one excellent - Phuket dive tours.

We had an excellent experience with Phuket dive tours! They took care of everything. Great price. Our instructor Roman was very patient and helpful as we are still beginner divers. We saw sharks, eels, sting rays, lion fish, sea snake, etc all in one day. We went on another dive day trip to the similan islands with another diving company the a couple days before this, and Phuket dive tours was better and cheaper. I would definitely use Phuket Dive Tours again. Thank you!

Hey! Sounds like fun! I personally didn’t do a long trip like that but I saw other people do longer trips through Phuket Dive Tours. I’m not sure if they do trips for 3 days but I really liked their customer service so you should at least check out their options!

Hi this is David thanks for the message, yes you can scuba dive as a beginner without a licence the best option is with SSI "TRY SCUBA " its a safe introduction to scuba diving in a pool environment.
SSI stands for Scuba Schools International a large global network of scuba diving training centres that's been around for 45 years and is the equivalent to PADI in many ways
If you like the pool experience then you can the move onto the SSI "Basic Diver" this is short easy course conducted normally as a half day or full day either from the beach or while taking a boat ride out to the surrounding islands.
The Basic Diving program gives you the opportunity to experience the underwater without committing to a longer certification program.
The SSI Basic diver course when completed will allow you to continue to dive for a period of 6 months with a SSI dive professional without having to start over again as a beginner doing try scuba

Hi! I'm coming to dive in March and your website just confuses me a little! I'm open water certified but my boyfriend is not. Does that make us one certified diver and one boat passenger? We are trying to do the 2 dive Racha Yai because it's open to beginners. Also it says book two or more divers and get free equipment rental? How much does all this add up to? Again the website just confuses me. Thank you.

Hi this is David at Phuket Dive Tours sorry you are finding things confusing - most of our customers find that sending an email or using the online chat facility a much easier way of communicating with us however thanks for the message in relation to one certified diver and one non-certified diver scuba-diving at Racha Yai in March 2019.
Typically all scuba-diving activities for beginners start at around 4,000 THB for two dives as a certified diver you would be expected to pay 3,500THB this would include equipment for each of you. Please note that additional transfer charges may apply depending on your hotel location
If your friend is a beginner he will need to read the medical form as a beginner if you answered yes to any question he then needs to see a doctor to get written permission scuba-diving the medical form is listed on our website under scuba-diving for beginners.
If you email me with your personal details as well as your hotel location we can then give you a price for scuba-diving based on your hotel location. Our email address can be found on our website.

Tech 40 & side-mount most divers will pass over this course and concentrate on the deep speciality first.
If you want to dive deeper we recommend the SSI Deep speciality to 40m and theres nothing that technical with regards to conventional recreational diving to 40m using standard scuba equipment.
All the SSI training materials for deep spec are provided free at no extra charge the digital c card will be allocated to you on the boat and the plastic certification card will be handed to you when you get off the boat.
