From the moment I stepped into the shop until when I was dropped off at my the hotel after my last diving day, I got so well taken care of to the degree that I felt a bit spoiled in the end of the experience.
The nice woman in the shop helped me go through which options I had when it came to diving and gave me needed information what to bring with me but also what to focus on (study-wise).
When the day had come, I got picked up at my hotel by a cab which took me to the pier where the woman from the shop waited on me together with my instructor Eamonn and introduced us. After that we headed to the boat with its crew which took us to the diving sites as well as made breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.
Eamonn is a great instructor who made the dives and learning really fun.
I cannot recommend DiveAsia and my diving instructor Eamonn enough, you’ll not get disappointed and you’ll for sure have a great time.

When looking for a reliable dive centre around Kata, I reached out to a couple of sources. One was a friend who had dived in Phuket earlier this year, and the second was a dive centre in Krabi, with whom we had had a very good experience 5 years ago. When both of them suggested Dive Asia, there was no need to look any further!
Since 3 of our group of 4 divers had not dived in a long time, Benno Brandon sent 2 dive instructors to accompany us. Sean and Daniel took us through a thorough refresher course where we were made to under go all underwater skills. Both dive instructors were excellent, with safety being their primary concern. Being highly experienced instructors, they kept a vigilant eye on us divers, and also pointed out marine life that might have otherwise slipped our notice while diving. After each dive, they discussed any issues that we may have had, and that was a big help too. The boat, William Silver's Mermaid, was well maintained and had good food/drinks on board.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience with Dive Asia. Special thanks to Sean and Daniel who made sure we had a great diving experience!

Brilliant couple of days diving with Dive Asia. From the responsiveness of the office team to my emails to the attentiveness of the boat crew and the divemasters, I really could not fault them. Special shout out to Sean who went the extra mile to look after me all day on the boat and under the water. Would highly recommend.

We had an amazing diving experience with Dive Asia. My husband and I are experienced divers but for our twins this was their first experience. We booked the lessons and the dives with Benno. Great service, very professional and of highest quality. Our instructors, John and Sean, were the best, highly experienced, calm, patient and fun to be with. They took great care of our children. We had 2 lovely days of diving as a family. Thank you to Dive Asia, Benno, John and Sean for a great experience. Our children loved it! We hope to be back next year.

My wife and I took the 3 dive dat trip with Dive Asia yesterday. Having already had a great experience Khoa Lak scuba on a 3 day live aboard we were looking forward to some more great diving. The contact with the sales staff was excellent and they offered to not charge my wife for diving in the event her ears played up. Pick up from the hotel, the issue of kit and getting to the boat was run like a military operation and very slick. So far so good !
The first dive was uneventful albeit very clear that the third member our party was nervous and very inexperienced consuming his air in record time.
On to the second dive and when we surfaced the boat was no where to be seen ... It stayed that way for 30 minutes and we drifted in a current taking us further from the drop site ??!!
Finally the third dive and again we surface and the boat is no where to be seen this time for 36 minutes !!!! And we and all the other groups drifted in a choppy sea and strong current.
This begs the important question of what if we had had an emergency ??!! Well we did....
Our inexperienced diver surfaced with next to no air and when endeavouring to inflate his BCD the hose cap ruptured leaving him with no air in either tank or BCD.
Clearly struggling to stay afloat and distressed, and with no recognition from the instructor (which he appeared not to take seriously) it was left to me to remove and carry his weight and hold onto him whilst we awaited the disappearing boat !!!
Now you might say this was not a serious emergency ?? But drifting on the surface with no help to be seen for 36 minutes we could have had a real problem.
I vented my disappointment but no debrief/explanation or apology.
You decide ?

People that now us know that what you describe is not in any way a normal occurrence for our company. We are very proud of the high level of safety and service we provide every day. In this case i have to admit we failed. I was informed after the second dive that we had a technical problem with the boat and that we were not able to pick up divers when they surfaces but only after a delay caused by the crew affecting repairs. It was my decision in the office to continue with the 3rd dive believing the repair to be sufficient for continued operations. At the beginning of the 3rd dive the crew discovered that the emergency fix they had implemented was not holding and that they needed to do the previous work again causing another longer delay in picking up our guest after the 3rd dive. For most divers, diving 1 hour or close to it there was no long delay but your group coming up earlier because of higher air consumption the delay was longer. I sincerely apologize to all affected divers for this.
I was informed about the incident with the broken BCD (not Dive Asia Equipment) by the dive guide in this group. His view is slightly different then you described. He came to my office and told me what happened. His word where: “One of the Guest (I assume that was you) was right there and reacted immediately to the loss of Buoyancy caused by the broken BCD, reliving the guy of his weight belt and assisted him. I then took the weight belt from him and stayed with the customer until the boat arrived. I did not need to intervene because the other customer handled the emergency so very well .”
Each situation by itself presents a problem that should not have happened and clearly my decision to continue with dive operations after we had the first mechanical problem was wrong in hindsight. At the same time I can only applaud you in handling the diving emergency in your group in a manner that was timely and correct preventing harm to a fellow diver that was not only a very new beginner but also very nervous as the high air consumption you mentioned demonstrates.
We will continue to strive for safety and a high level of service everyday but we all are human and often decisions looking good when made look bad when viewed in hindsight so all we can do is give our best and hope our decisions are right. I again apologize to all affected and hope you all will forgive us so we see you back on board again.

This is a big dive operation with many staff. They have big boats with on board compressors a choice of tank sizes, nitrox and modern scubapro equipment. They offer lovely food, good toilets on board and the big boat soaks up the waves. Their service extends to offering sea sickness pills. So why only 2 stars? Well as usual it's all comes down to which instructor/dive master you get.
My partner is a nervous, inexperienced diver. Our first day was with Jamie, her introduction was straight out of the PADI charm school and we settled in nicely. My partner made the mistake of running low on air on the first dive but was fine -30 bar in the surface. Jamie quipped that if she did the same on the next dive it would be a problem.....
My partner learnt her lesson...on the next dive she told Jamie that she was at 100 bar, 70 bar, 60 bar, 50 bar, 40 bar. Jamie swam on.....In the end we started to surface. Jamie then insisted on sharing air. Everyone was watching. Jamie's boyfriend looked on approvingly. What a great dive instructor Jamie was! My partner had 32 bar on the surface....what was that all about? Well it made Jamie look good and my partner look and feel crap.
My partner didn't want to dive again.
I persuaded her to get back in the water. The next day we got Alex who was lovely. She went well beyond the call of duty, helping us and another 2 divers. No drama, no hysterics, no determination to teach us a lesson but just good supportive teaching I can't praise her enough. Three fantastic chilled dives. She wasn't showing off to anybody.
So a game of 2 halves...a 0 star dive and a 5 star dive day hence 2 stars. Did I complain? No. I explained what had happened to Alex pre dive. She understood and looked after us.

I went through the Open Water Diver course and had the best time of my life. I felt very well taken care of by my dive instructor, Alex, who was extremely knowledgeable. This wasn't surprising because of his 18 years of diving experience and 3 years of experience as an instructor.
Everyone on the boat was also very cheerful and kind. They spoke English and German very well, so language was not a barrier. While on the trip there were couples who were not dive certified that either came along for the view, or to go snorkeling and had a great time too (they even saw some sharks)!!
Diving was an amazing experience, one that was great to be introduced to in such a beautiful country and with such great company! I completely recommend Dive Asia as a very trustworthy and friendly company to dive with.

We were attracted to Dive Asia on a personal recommendation some four years ago and we made the right choice. They have the reputation for being the best in Phuket - and for good reason. Three of our family have done all their training with them - one to instructor level and we nearly always use them for day trips for our frequent visits to Phuket. Their rental equipment is of a very high standard, the instruction excellent, the dive leaders are very experienced and the organisation and safety what you would expect from a German run operation - extremely efficient! Their dive boat isn't the most comfortable, but it's very well maintained and the on board cooked food is extremely good - better than most of the local restaurants. My wife, who does not dive is always happy to spend a day on the boat with us.
They're not the cheapest - but when you are getting instruction and renting equipment that your life depends on - cheap is not necessarily good!

Dived twice with Dive Asia (once in 2009 and then July 2013). We weren't lucky this time round as the weather was horrible. Our dives in 2009 were amazing as the sun was out!
Just for information, I have dived all over Malaysia so I'm comparing my experience at Dive Asia to Malaysia.
- Yes, this place is a well oiled system with a great boat, great diving equipment etc. However, this seemed too touristic to me ! We were picked up at the hotel and dropped off to choose our equipment for the day. Then we went onto the big boat for the 1h30 journey to the first dive site.
- The dive masters / instructors were very nice and friendly (German).
- Food, drink and snacks were provided on board. OK food for lunch (rice, chicken, pork...proper meal for lunch which was nice).
- We dived the King Cruiser and another dive site. Nice dives, even though the current was really strong and the visibility wasn't good.
- All in all, this dive center is good and well organised. However, the whole experience seemed too touristic and industrial for me. Considering the price we paid, we could have dived in 5 different dive sites in Malaysia for the same price! (with boat). Sure, I don't dive with big boats in Malaysia but the waters are the same and we see amazing fish etc too in Malaysia without having to pay the high price! I prefer smaller dive centers where you actually chat to the other people who dive with you. This dive center is so big that you don't really talk to the others on the boat as there are too many of them!
If you want to dive with a big dive center then go for Dive Asia. Personally, I won't be diving in Phuket again as I find the place too touristic (in general) and too expensive. I would rather spend my money elsewhere like Malaysia where the dives are just as good! (best place we dived so far has been Sipadan...check it out people!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SHARK POINT
Shark Point, a small rock outcropping about 1½ hours East of Phuket, is a famous marine sanctuary due to its tremendous variety of marine life.
Particular attractions you should look out for are the colorful soft corals and sea fans decorating the limestone pinnacle, the great range of tropical fish and the famous leopard sharks, found on the sandy bottom.
ANEMONE REEF
This submerged reef lying not far from Shark Point is similar in character and you will be amazed at its extensive fields of sea anemones. Harmless leopard sharks are also to be found, with some massive schools of smaller fish and some larger pelages such as tuna and barracuda.
KO RAJA YAI
About 1 ½ hours South of Phuket is a beautiful tropical, Ko Raja Yai, island with a lot of good hard coral reefs, colorful shallow water coral gardens and a great opportunity for some enjoyable drift diving. There are several excellent dive sites particularly suitable for the beginner and snorkeler, making this island a favorite destination for everyone.
KO RAJA NOI
The smaller of the two Islands, Raja Noi offers, in addition to Raja Yai's attractions, some truly spectacular sites with giant underwater boulders and scenery very similar to the Similans. Expect to see a higher proportion of colorful soft corals and more of the bigger fish.
PHI PHI ISLAND
3 hours due East of Phuket, the Phi Phi Islands are a famous destination even for those unaware of the great diving available. As a diver, you will find that the spectacular limestone cliffs above the water become sheer drop-offs and craggy coral encrusted landscape under the water with a rich and colorful diversity of marine life and even whale sharks are known to visit.
KO DOC MAI
This small, jungle topped island lies on the way to Shark Point from Phuket.
It provides some of the best wall diving in the area with sea fans, soft corals and colorful sea life decorating its underwater cliffs. With a little bit of good luck you will find here some of the hidden specialties of the Andaman Sea - the Seahorse.
KING CRUISER
On the 4th of May 97 King Cruiser, a 85 m catamaran passenger ferry, strayed of course and hit Anemone Reef ripping one of her twin hulls open.
Subsequently King Cruiser sunk within an hour with no loss of life. With it's multiple decks, great open swim troughs and depths between 12 and 30 meters the King Cruiser is an ideal wreck dive site for all divers.
