Even if you are only passing on the N10 en route south it is well worth your time to take a detour and visit this beautiful Chateau overlooking the Loir. The vista from the terrace is superb and well worth the visit for that alone. However, this chateau hides a beautiful interior in addition to its striking facade and peaceful grounds. It is somewhat unusual in that it is inhabited by the same family who have lived there for going on for 200 years and is full of history. The owners are passionate about their property and very knowledgeable. They take great delight in showing you around and explaining in great detail the treasures of art and furnishings the chateau holds. For English visitors it is a delight to have someone who speaks English as well as the owner does. I have visited many times but never miss an opportunity to return again.

My wife and I passed through this small village by accident, and couldn't miss seeing the incredible castle on the hilltop overlooking the Loir. After a short walk up the steps from the Loir to the top of the hill, we found the entrance and saw that it was possible to visit. If you go there and the entrance door is closed - ring the bell, and the owners will come to meet you. We spent a good hour and a half with the owners, visiting the downstairs rooms, loaded with paintings, furniture, porcelain, knick-knacks, busts, fossils, naturalist artifacts, and more, each with a story. The couple is extremely passionate about the castle, the history, and the collection, and it is very contagious. If I understood correctly, the castle has been in the wife's family for at least 7 generations, and everything is cared for lovingly and carefully. We also were able to visit the garden and the stables, now converted into a reception area, but with vestiges of its earlier occupationIf you are driving close by and you do not stop, you are missing out on a treat.
