Monte Senario is so peaceful. It sits on top of a small mountain at just over 800 metres above sea level which means it is so much cooler than the city of Florence 20km down the valley. As well as the convent there are walks in the forest around there and the 360 degree view from the top on a clear day is breathtaking. You'll be in for a steep climb though.

We were offered a tour by one of the priest who went out of his way to provide us with a tour of this beautiful sanctuary. Worth a visit to marvel the views on a sunny day.
