The moment I stepped in the scooner, I was especially impressed by its beauty! And as I looked out into the horizon , I imediately imagined a beatiful day with the sea breaze and lovely sights and the sound of waves relaxing my day.
But as soon as the anchors were raised, I realised imediately that I was all but fooled by my initial impression. Why? As the beautiful scooner began to ease its way through the magnificent mangroves off the shores of Camamu, a tour guide/variety show presenter began his show! For the next six to seven hours I bid goodby to any thought of Peace and tranquility. Forget the sound of the waves, forget any form of silence! If it wasnt the ´showman´ singing or promoting games, the huge speakers were quickly destroying my hearing and precious day! I imediately realised that I was trapped in a hellish day of bad singers, bad music, bad food, in the middle of Paradise! Unfortunately, in Brasil, a scooner trip in Paradise means a mini mardi gras over water! If this is what you enjoy, go for it, you will have the time of your life. But if you are like me who foolishly thought that a trip to Camamu in a lovely scooner meant calm and relaxation, FORGET IT!
I even had the misfortune of falling into the trap of having lunch were they had recommended for the sake of convenience! We were once again bombarded by a live show, which was not bad, relaxing music until the tour guide and his companions decided to invade the stage and begin their own private variety show in our honour. If I had the Money I would have loved to be helicopetered away from that nightmare of a day!
We were sold this trip in Itacaré by Grou tour operators. the transportation to and from Camamu were in excelente vans and done efficiently yet if at the moment of the sale I had been told that it was a fun trip, I would have never taken it!
