The pre-dawn hike up the mountain and the near-vertical climbing of Gokyo Ri are all very strenuous particularly at that altitude. However, it is more than worthwhile to take up the challenge.
It's not just the sense of a great accomplishment. The views from the top of Gokyo Ri with a 360 degree panorama of the entire Everest region are absolutely stunning.

Gokyo lake and Gokyo Ri are Definitely places to visit. Beautifull 360 panoramic views from the top of Gokyo Ri are unforgettable. Highly recommending to climb this east to climb looking mountain.

Its a nice hike up the mountain, to a beautiful 360 degree panaroma of the entire everest region, Highly recommend this! Take lot of water and layers and some snacks, it is fun to spend a few hours up just enjoying the bliss and solitude and amazing views

The last 2200 feet of the trek and how hard it is. It is described as a near vertical climb to the summit of Gokyo Ri. Then add to that the affects of altitude and it is like climbing with only one lung with 30kg on your back. The pain, however, is worth it for the views cannot be described in words. Just unbelievable. You have all the big hitters in front of you... Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Lhotse, Sagarmatha, Makalu, Mera Peak, Khang Tega, Ama Dablam, Thamserku etc.

A lot quieter than EBC and stunning views
