This place is the best place to stay one night before you reach to Gokyo. There are several nice & comfortable lodges which you cannot find until you reach Gokyo. I think this place would be best to spend a night for better acclimatization. I...More

This place is ideal for acclimatisation on the way to Gokyo. One should spend a minimum of one night may be two for better acclimatisation. The place is absolutely beautiful and there are several glacier walks which will help acclimatisation.

Get here early, climb one of the ridgelines, visit the medical centre or just relax in the sunshine amongst the yaks in Macchermo! The best pace on the Gokyo trail to spend the day before the final ascent! Staying here should leave you feeling strong...More

A compact mountain settlement where an afternoon can be well spent at the Machermo Sherpa Rescue Post learning about AMS ( acute mountain sickness). Run by vollenteers from the UK. Also nice walks up the valley to the waterfall at its head.
