Ambotia is one of the many tea gardens in Kurseong and the shiva temple is a part of the tea garden. The temple has been made like a monastery and is very peaceful. There is an orange orchard close by which is worth a visit!!

When one drives past the Ambotia tea gardens, it is irresistible to withhold oneself away from not visiting the Shiva Mandir. Although temple is a swayambu shiv mandir, the first look makes you think that it might probably be a quaint little Buddhist monastery because of its Buddhist and Tibetan design.
The temple by itself is a quiet place and the drive to that place from Kurseong is very scenic with the road curving around making it look very picturesque. A visit to this temple is a must for those staying over at Kurseong. Especially those who can walk should choose to trek to the temple and get back to their hotel.

This temple is just like to other temple. Overall this is really nice temple but this is off route from the city. So If you have ample time to spend then only you can visit this place. This place has very nice environment.

Earlier it was a four hour walk from kurseong town but now thanks to the newly developed roads it's just a bumpy car ride away . Highlights :-
1 . Peaceful place of worship
2. No badgering priests like Puri
3. No one forces you to pray
4. Just sit and enjoy the silence broken by the gurgling waters of the River Balasun 400feet below the temple.
5. A rudrakhsha tree and yes if your luck is good you might get a good rudrakhsha specimen
