From the moment we booked to leaving the boat, this was an outstanding cruise. Diane, Chris and Travis make a phenomenal team, working exceptionally hard to make sure your trip runs smoothly and creating an unforgettable experience. The boat really is the best around, care is taken to make sure everyone is looked after. The food is just out of... More

Booked through "Go Orange". Very competitively priced with discount for 2nd passenger. You don't need me to tell you that the scenery is fantastic, so I'll talk about the facilities.... we drove to Manapouri where there is free parking on the Quayside or just uphill before the Quay. Check in is easy using just your surname and there is a... More

Real Journeys had the trip organized very well. Alas, it started raining when we boarded the Manapouri boat, and poured until we returned. We saw some gray seals on gray rocks surrounded by gray water, with gray clouds reaching down to the water level. My advice: check the weather forecast and book only with max. 50% risk of rain -... We were so lucky to book our last minute with Deep Cove Charters Overnight and the captain Chris Lemen. The weather was foul but at the same time it made the fiords mysterious. Chris pointed to all beautiful natural things and for all he spotted dolphins, seals, just one little pinquin and a nest of your birds. The group was... More

The 1-day trip on Doubtful Sound with Real Journeys is first rate. The scenery and relative isolation is as spectacular as it is reported to be. The two boats and bus run by Real Journeys are new and comfortable. There's a 45 minute boat ride across lake Manapouri, leading to an hour bus ride on a gravel road over Wilmot... More

This is an awesome trip! Dianne is fantastic handling everything from the booking through to the day starting and making sure you're organised and on the ferry across lake manapouri. Once across the lake you're met by Chris, again, super nice and down to earth he makes sure along with Travis that you're well looked after throughout the entire time.... More

Had planned to do Milford Sound but the road had been closed by snow each morning and due to our time in the area decided to do the Doubtful Sound Cruise. Booked thru Go Orange in town the day before, given our info and met the cruise the next morning. Our luck it was a cold wet day but that... More

Wonderful day - ferry from Manapouri to West Arm - bus over the Wilmot Pass with a couple of stops to see Doubtful Sound far below - catamaran for three hours in the sound itself, which is beyond isolated. The scenery is stunning. It's not the easiest place to get to but totally worth it. Literally saw a couple of... More

Doubtful sound is much easier to get to from Te Anau than some guide books suggest. Real Journeys operate a twice daily service which includes the lake crossing, coach trip and cruiser on Doubtful Sound. You can book at the office in Manapouri. Both boats were modern and designed to carry a hundred plus passengers. A packed lunch is provided... More

Doubtful Sound is far away from everything - getting there is not that easy. First there is a bus ride to Lake Manapouri. Then there is an hour ferry ride. This is followed by a bus ride on New Zealand's most expensive road; equipment to build the roads, the busses, everything had to be brought in via helicopter or via... More
