    Pace and beautifull
A very clean and quiet place. It costs 24 lei parking space (2 hours), you have time to visit the lake, on the way to the lake is a beautiful place where you can see a panoramic view. Also in this money right next to the cottage where the ticket is purchased, even a 3-minute walk away you can go on a 45-minute hike where you will see a former lake covered by the eruption of the volcano. Here are landscapes and a super interesting history. Plus the guide made the hike much more interesting.

    Great place to visit
Being disabled and unable to walk great distances the staff ( who spoke English) were helpful and transported us from car park to lake. Not many people about so was able to move about easily. Lovely chapel well worth seeing. The scenery was magnificent and spectacular. Also saw a bear on route to the lake.

    It was great.
It is great. I was disappointed you couldn’t swim there since it says nothing about it online. There is a bar type place which has very nice snacks. The view was incredible, I haven’t been in autumn but i think it would look great around that time. There is about a 20 min walk down from the car park and there is places with great views, parking for 3 hours is 30 lei (about 5,80€)

It's gorgeous, wonderful or how you prefer to say. You have to take care and stay together with other people because are a lot of bears in the forest.
It's writen that it will take only 10 minutes until you get to the lake(from the parking place) but it's more. It depends on your age and your phisical condition. They have a free bus and you can use it to come back at the parking place(when return from the lake). We've paid 24 RON for parking. Down at the lake you can have a traditional delicious kuros kalacs.
Everything was wonderful, except the people who dosen't used a mask and throw garbage in the area

The lake is so beautiful. During Autumn the lake looks even more special with all the colours. Try to get there as early as possible. We arrived around 9:30-10AM and there were no tourists. You can enjoy the sides without any noise and take amazing photos.
Parking is 24lei for 3 hours. You have plenty of time to see the lake and go to Tinovul Mohos - this is really close to the parking area. You can visit Tinovul Mohos for free. There is a tour guide hourly. It’s quite an interesting place, worth the visit.

The Overland Adventure Club from the UK visited in 2016 during our extensive tour of Romania, and this was a very impressive destination. Wild bears were in the area too.
We went prior to the bathing ban, and enjoyed a remarkable swim in there - shame it's now banned, but the reasons do seem reasonable.

It's a great area to visit. The lake is unique in Europe. It was formed in a volcanic crater. The beaty of the view is breathtaking. A must visit for all lovers of nature.

This is the only lake in Eastern Europe with a volcanic origin.
The lake is not fed by any brook or stream, the only water supply is the rain, therefore its water is nearly as pure as distilled water.
The best time to visit is summer time when you can take a refreshing bath in the lake or hire a boat.
The lake is beautiful, it is surrounded by dense forest.
Accomodation options are varied: you can camp near the lake or get a room at the one of the hotels in Balvanyos where you can also have a traditional transylvanian meal.
If you get there, visit the Mohos peat-bog, too. This was also a lake, 3 times the size of the St Ann lake, but it got filled up with the overgrowth of vegetation and so a peat bog was formed. Mohos is special because rare plants grow here dating from the ice era.

Crowded place, you have to pay 24 lei for parking even for 1/2 hour and you need to walk 2 km on foot to reach the lake.
It's not worth the effort when you can visit other lakes nearby for free and reachable by car.

Unfortunately we spent here a very short time. You can only either walk or take the bus to the lake when arriving at the parking place of the Lake about 1300 meter from the lake.
Since we heard to be aware of bears we asked "is there any?" The young lady told us that "yes, of course but they are under control". Well to tell the truth we were not really satisfied with this answer :).. Anyway we chose walking on the way down... we gave a huge noise, turning on the music on my phone and stomping till we reach the bus stop next to the lake. It is awesome. You must see it. Pure nature nothing else... Wow, one of my favourite place in Transilvania.
But on the way back we chose the bus. Since we heard it was leaving in about 5 minutes from the time we were there we decided to leave for it. Then a suprise. Bear. A whole family with 4 bruins and the parents. And the "handling" meant that there was a guy with a gasspray, a radio, and a ax. He was just standing there and took a look at the bear and told us to stay away and not to feed the bear.... funny, but I didnt feel like feeding them just getting away as soon as possible :)

The long (and bumpy in some places) drive to the lake was worth it. Though we had to walk all the way down (and then uphill), the lake is really beautiful and relaxing. I wish there were some activities so the children weren't bored so quickly. Nice place to hiking or walking along the lake shore or biking.

The lake is really beautiful, shallow water, a good place to camp, cheap parking, but not too many food options. The lake is beautiful, it is surrounded by dense forest. There is a path around the lake, which is perfect for walking and contemplation. It definitely deserves a trip here!
