No underground Cathedrals!!??
Jun 2021
I sent some tourist of my B&B for a wine tasting (really good wines) and for a visit of the underground Cathedrals and they were very disappointed because there are no underground cathedrals as advertised. Only street level! Save the 25 bucks and go to Contratto!!

Excellent!
Oct 2019
We’ve wine tasted around the world and we think Coppos is one of the best for Barbara’s , unbelievably delicious! We are staying in Calosso and wanted to wine taste after a day of driving through the beautiful countryside. We checked TripAdvisor of course and saw Coppo. We drove the short 20 minutes without an appointment ! The gracious co owner Luigi accompanied us with a tasting. The Barbera which we tasted was unbelievable, so fresh , so smooth. I’d drink it everyday if I could.
Stop bye, it’s not inexpensive, but money well spent!

Interesting wine cellar, good wine tasting, rather expensive
Oct 2019 • Family
We liked the visit at the Coppo winery where we saw the scenic wine caves. After the tour we enjoyed abut 6 wines in an informative wine tasting. Overall, the visit was ok, but we expected to see more of the caves which we found pretty, but rather small. The entire visit is pretty expensive (40 euros).

Wine tasting: an amazing ancient cellar
Nov 2018 • Friends
You visit this cellar not so much for the wine also if it is exceptional (including the white one!!!!), but to see the cellar structure: absolutely MAG_NI_FI_CENT !
The atmosphere and the history of this ancient cellar are pure magic!
Wine tasting is performed in a bright new space, very very elegant and classy
Personnel accompanying during the visit and wine tasting is highly professional, knowledgeable and extremely courteous

Excellent wines and interesting Tour
Jun 2018 • Couples
We had a bottle of wine from Coppo one evening and enjoyed it so much we immediately organised to visit. Interesting tour of cellar and good tasting of several wines and at 20 Euros a head cheaper than some other options.

Our favorite winery experience in Piedmont!
May 2018 • Couples
My husband and I visited the Coppo winery in May of 2018. The cellar is built into the side of a mountain in the charming town of Canelli. We took the Sparkling Wine tour which I would highly recommend. Our tour guide was Luigi who is part of the family that founded the winery. He gave us an awesome tour that was ~1 hour and then we got to try 5-6 different wines. Luigi explained the story behind each wine and was very passionate about his work. We ordered 6 bottles of wine and can't wait to open them up for a special occasion. We toured 6 different wineries in the area and this was definitely our favorite.

A unique and special experience with magnificent wines!
Jul 2017 • Friends
We were recommended by the excellent waiter at the Michelin star restaurant San Marco to visit the cellars of Coppo after trying several of the Coppo wines during dinner. We were certainly not disappointed!

The underground wine cellars of Coppo extend under the hills of Canelli and together with the other cellars in town they are called the underground Cathedrals of Canelli. The 2-hour tour took us through walkways, tunnels, corridors and spacious halls where the different wines was stored. The tour was led by the highly skilled oenologist Carlo who passionately explained about the history of Coppo and also about their great wines.

We ordered the premium tour and asked if they could focus on their red wines during the tasting. This was definitely not a problem and we also tried several of their spumante wines including the Riserva. We got to try Coppo’s Chardonay wines; a 2007 Monteriolo and a fantastic Riserva della Famiglia. We tasted also their Barberas; Camp du Rouss, the famous Pomorosso and their exceptional single vineyard Reserva della Famiglia Barbera (my favorite). We also got a glass of a very nice 2009 Barolo and ended trying two of their grappa’s where the last one, an aged grappa was the best one I have ever tasted with a very elegant and round taste.

Carlo made the tour a unique and special experience tailor made for us. I highly recommend to visit Coppo if you are in Piedmont and I will certainly go back the next time we are in the area.

Many tanks to Carlo and Coppo!

A trip filled with great wines!
Jun 2017 • Couples
We booked a private tour and tasting for our daughter, her fiancé & ourselves. We arranged the tour for an English speaking guide. Carlos met and welcomed us to the winery. He took us on a wonderful tour with in this magical building. From the outside and lobby area we weren't expecting what unfolded as we toured the depth of the structure. We loved seeing and hearing how they produce their wines. Seeing that they have kept the process the same as many years ago and have not gone with today's technology made it more special. You can tell from his explaining how proud they are of the wine, history & commitment to keep the process pure. After the tour we were able to taste some wonderful wines and cheese. The cheese was made especially for Coppo and complimented the wines. Carlos shared in a toast and sat with us. We throughly enjoyed his friendly nature and sharing his wines with other wine lovers. He opened 5 different wines and gave generous pours. We appreciated his refills & wanted to be sure our visit was memorable ! We ordered a mixed case and also purchased a few bottles to enjoy back at the Villa we were staying at . It really was a delightful tour with a wonderful man who shared the history & wines of Coppo. So thrilled we decided to pay a bit more and do the private guided tour and tasting!

Unique Winery
Jul 2017 • Family
The history of the wine cellars was very interesting. We enjoyed the tour and the tasting. We did feel that the price of the tour and tasting was a little high at 20 euros each. The tour was interesting, and the wines were good. But, we only tasted 4 wines total, and the tastings were relatively small. They said that white wine was the areas specialty, but we didn't try and white wines. We tried 3 red wines and 1 sparkling Moscato and nothing else. The wines were very good but the prices of the wines were higher than we were used to for the area. And, they cannot ship to the US.
