I went to Bandhavgarh Fort. The Bandhavgarh Fort inside the national park is considered over 2000 years old. There is a mention of the Bandhavgarh Fort in Narad Panch Ratra, and Valmiki’s Ramayana. It is great place to go.

This Fort dates back to Hindu mythology period of Ramayana. Bandhav means brother. Garh means Fort. This is gifted by Lord Ram to his brother Lakshmana to keep watch on Sri Lanka as per mythology. This fort is inside Tala premium zone of Bandhavgarh National park. But now Fort safari is closed. When we go on safari in Tala zone we get glimpses of the fort. Ancient caves are visible which are horse stables and one Badi gufa which has 9 rooms where it is said housed the soldiers who safeguarded the fort. Also Shesh Saiya where we see Lord Shiva - Vishnu - Brahma statues, May be the fort's temple at that period.

Beyond Shesh Saiya entry to the fort is closed now for public. On special permission from forestdepartment one can visit. This is open to public on Janmashtami day and Saint Kabir Jayanti. Inside the fort there is temple which is still functional and pooja are done. People climb up the steps on these two occasions to visit the fort and the temple.

We have seen the caves and the Shesh Saiya during our safari to Tala premium zone this time.

Place full of history. It is a natural place with the wildlife experience. Its area totally covered in Bandavgarh National Park / Tiger Reserve area. Fort is freely and publically open only two festival days (1-Krishna Janmashtmi, 2-Kabir Festival) in year. If you want to see another days with chargeable amount decided by Govt and allotted Vehicle out of mansoon season.

The fort is not open for visitors only one temple is there which is open for 3 occasions annually. At the time of safari in Tala zone you can see the outline of fort that too through binoculars or dslr.

The Fort is actually off limits, but you can see the magnificent location on top of the highest plateau from the tiger tours of the park. The whole park area is an amazing preserve of the glory of ancient India's lively natural habitats.
