Spectacular views, self-guided. Not wheelchair friendly or for large persons. Narrow staircase leads to a tiny hatch at the top. But totally worth it and family friendly.

Amazing views and a very beautiful lighthouse! While in Jose Ignacio, make sure you take a stroll around the beach and town, until you reach the lighthouse and enjoy the photo opportunities. Afterwards, have a seafood lunch with a nice white!

We always stop to go up the lighthouses we come across in Uruguay. 25 pesos per person isn’t much, and going up an 100+ year old building is fun. The views at the top are always rewarding.

There are wonderful views from them top of the lighthouse! The stairs are narrow and winding as you would expect so if you have physical constraints you might want to consider.

There is a fee to climb the Faro which in December 2015 was 80 pesos. No children under 8 are allowed to climb up.

There are few souvenir shops nearby and a little cafe up the street if you need anything. But the beach is definitely worth some time too!

The José Ignacio Lighthouse is one of the most visited attractions in town, but on this day it was being painted so we could not go up to see what would surely be an outstanding view. Oh well, we enjoyed the board walk and walked down to the beach with millions of broken mussel shells creating an incandescent glow. Then there was the artisan store of the remarkable weaver who made these outstanding hand made garments of immense quality. His name is Hugo Gonzalez and if you can, buy something - you would not regret it...

Perfect size among beautiful beaches. A must visit in Jose Ignacio! A wonderful start to a rambling beach walk along the promenade and then down to the beach.

the view from the top of the lighthouse is just amazing. Better if you're used to do some sport, with the 100+ steps and the last one which is almost climbing. but it worths it. the view is very nice from there
