The ticket on Jan 2020 is Uruguayan Pesos 350 (about 9.5 USD). We brought food, beverages for a picnic on the beach under the shade of a tree. The views from the island are very nice. There are lots of trees and some trails between them which are nice too. We went to two beaches and finally chose the one protected from the wind.
There is a British cemetery and a few very old cannon batteries built by the Spanish to defend the bay.

It is across the port on the Mansa side of Punta del Este. You can take a round trip ferry ride to the island for about $12. The ferries come and go every 1/2 hour or so. It's fun to explore the island. On one side you have a nice little beach facing Punta del Este and on the other side a beautiful deep beach.

Since we were there in low season, we had the island for our own. Lucky with the sunny weather we walked almost around the whole island. Very nice and peaceful. Different from Punta de Este.

It is an island to visit, definitely. It has places to explore, old canyons , the cemetery, beaches and, of course it is surrounded by thick woods. I advise you to take your own meals for there is a picnic area .Moreover, due to the fact that cantinas at the beach have not much. Although it needs a liittle improvement on the latter, the trip by motorboat and the island are worthewhile.

To get to Isla Gorriti you must take a boat that goes from Punta del Este to the island in around 20 minutes. Once there, you can roam around the island and visit XVIIIth century fortifications, canon emplacements and similar mementos from the time the island was the easternmost point of defense for Uruguay.
Even though hundreds of persons go there every day in summer to sunbathe and swim, there is a feeling of abandonment in the island.
Still, it's worth a visit.

To look from the rambla or many of the beachside restaurants after dark it was until now a delight to see the island light up after dark. This year there are no lights and there is a rumour that vandals came onto the island late and cut many of the wires. To be on the island at night is forbidden and there used to be a guardian. The wires have evidently not been repaired.

htis is abig mistake onthe part of th eintendencia since the lit island at night was fetaur eof views around th eentire neormous bay and retsarnt canno longe roffer this wonderful freedelight

Isla Goritti: An island where you can get away from the buildings and people, but still stat very close to it all. From the far side of the island (from the puerto) it feels as if you could be anywhere in the world. But its only a 5 min boat ride from el puerto. You have 2 - 1.75 hours to explore, and it isn't really possible to see the whole island. Head to the beach and explore some of the forest, because a good portion of the coastline is rocky and nothing special. Also: collect some shells like I did!

It´s a few minutes away from Punta del Este´s harbour. A quick boat takes you there, you arrive at a little harboour and you can choose a beach among 3 or 4 options. I like the "playa honda"; it´s on the opposite side of the island from the harbour. The sea is quite and it´s deep. It´s a nice picture when many boats and middle sized vessels arrive there with music.
The island itself is an environment protected area, so you can find a wood, beaches and sun. You have to go through it by walking, there are no cars, motorbikes, etc.
The best thing is to take with you whatever you may need to go for picnic. Don´t forget the sunscreen 50 FPS and the beach umbrella!!!! It´s advisable to go very early in the morning to come back by midday, or to go at about 3.30 pm until the sunset. It´s really nice to watch this moment form the island.
A nice place to visit at least once.
