About
The Castle of Sanluri is the only castle of the medioeval age that remains. Inside you could visit the War museum, dedicated to the first world war and to the Risorgimento period, a collection of waxworks (XVI - XIX sec.), and forniture of different centuries starting from XVII to XIX sec.

Highly informative

This is certainly one of the main attractions in the whole area between Low Marmilla and Campidano. The castle is well preserved and and the guides are skilled and professional. The joint ticket allows visitors to have access to the new Museum of bread culture which is also located in the town center. The house of bread yields an interesting cross section of the economic and social life of this fertile land. Definitely worth visiting.

Interesting building, poor English language tour

The castle is architecturally interesting, and the furnishings are period correct.

No photos allowed inside.

Our tour was conducted in English and Italian, but our guide did not even tell us all of the information contained on the signs in the rooms. She spent considerably more time speaking in Italian.

The best part for me was the lower level which houses a wide selection of military equipment, with a concentration on weapons from WWI. I found this very interesting, but the descriptive signage was limited.

The History at large

The best preserved Sardinian castle, a very important historical place from the Middle Age to the 20th century, with impressive collections of military, ceramics, etc.

We found the place on our return trip to fly out from Cagliari. The welcome was warm and the tour guide spoke good English. She explained the detail behind the castle (really a medieval fortified house) it's early beginnings and the ownership of a senior officer in the Italian Army in the early 20th century. The military history of the owner played well into a marvelous collection of military items in a separate room.

It was affordable (2.50 for kids, 5 for adults).

Overall we are super glad we stopped.

Well worth a visit

We visited Sanluri from Cagliari (about 40 minutes by car) on a bright, cold Sunday. The castle is in the middle of town. For a small entrance fee, we spent a really interesting hour on a great guided tour (English as well as Italian). The furnished rooms were great, and so was the military museum. Well worth a visit!

Unique castle
Sep 2014 • Couples
We visited this castle on a return trip to Cagliari. The castle is located in the town centre and parking can be found adjacent. We paid 3 Euros per adult entry.

We were shown around by a guide who spoke good English and explained the contents of the museum in good detail whilst also providing insight into Sardinian culture. The collection of artefacts are rather odd, including a exhibition on world war 1 & 2, as well as a combination of furniture from different periods. Most peculiar was the wax work collection.

However, despite the peculiarity of the combination of artefacts our guide made the visit very enjoyable.

Interesting site
We were stuck home in a windy day and we decided to go for a visit. The castle is easy to find . It is beautiful and the visit is guided by a charming woman that speaks good english. The first part of the visit is about the first war . Do not hesitate to spend an hour visiting the castle.
