We enjoyed our visit and wine tasting. The wine is excellent, and we bought some to be shipped to the US. They us Mailboxes Etc. In Dijon and two months later, it still has not even shipped. I have tried contacting Phillipe Le Clerc and have received no reply whatsoever. Mailboxes Etc just says they are very busy. Don’t know what else to do now. They have taken $500 from me. Anyway, just a buyer beware I guess.

We went for the wine, and all we talk about is the very unusual museum in the caves. It is clearly in transition (and may have been like this since the start of time), with construction evident as you meander through the tunnels.

Upon arriving downstairs, we saw many tables, chairs and dragon motif sculptures. The museum then turned into various tools, typewriters, wooden shoes, Tahitian masks, plows, taxidermy (did you see the stuffed DOG!?)...and many other things. I have no idea what the collection was meant to convey - there were no signs or information to help even explain what we were looking at. On top of it, the museum is clearly open to the outside, as quite a bit of 'fresh' animal droppings were obvious on the floors.

After going through the museum, we went up for a tasting, and it was fine to try the wines. I wish they would have provided more than one glass so we could taste and compare wines side by side. My husband wanted to buy a bottle, and we were then told no credit cards (even though a credit card machine was clearly visible on the desk).

Just an odd place, but apparently one of the few public places to have a wine tasting. So go in forewarned. And with an open mind!

The wine cellars are amazing, really worth paying a visit! its like a labyrinth in there, well maintained, looks like an old underground party cellar, plus there are paths to the barrels where they keep their wine. The quality of their wine, on the other hand, is quite poor in our experience.

This place is a tourist trap and to be avoided at all costs.

Two facts should caution you:
1) they are open every day 365 around the year. As a wine producer.
2) they are not listed as wine producers on the official list of Burgund Wine Producers (check the homepage of the BIVB)

Be careful when you buy wine there. They offer you tax free but they never return the tax.

Unfortunately they are frequently visited by guided wine tours so you can not always avoid them. Drink your wine, listen to the explanations but don't buy!

My wife and I visited this winery on our honeymoon. It was a nice tour/ tasting. We bought almost $1,000 USD in wine. They told us that there may be some delays due to temperatures. We were very patient but 1 year later we still do not have our wine! We attempted to call and email. Zero response! This is highway robbery!! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs! A

Hello, Please contact us at : philippe.leclerc60@wanadoo.fr Ask Benjamin, and then I am going to e-mail you. We are shipping hundreds cases every year and I never hear something like this. It is very strange if you can't reach us by e-mail and phone, and the same with the shipping company (people ordering from us have an invoice with our e-mail adress and phone number, and a shipping order form with the shipping company's informations). So contact us and we are going to see with the shipping company what happened and regularize the situation. Best regards, Domaine Philippe Leclerc

This is a far cry from our visit here 20 years ago. At that time we met Phillip LeClerc personally and had the pleasure of watching him drive away in his Bat mobile. I also remember the young man in the cellar putting labels on wine bottles by hand. Not so today this is a most magnificent seller in for a modest price of €10 you can taste seven of his famous red burgundy’s. The only one that I could say that I really enjoyed was the 2005 pictured. I discussed the possibility of bringing these wines to Toronto but the cost would have been a bit exorbitant. Apparently you can ship Wines if you live in the United States into the country duty and tax free not so into Ontario. The young man who looked after us during the tasting was very informative and we even got into a discussion of global warming and the effect on the production of wine specifically on the lack of tartaric acid due to the very hot and dry summer weather. When the weather is dry and hot above a particular temperature the tartaric acid which is so needed as the acidic base for long storage gets destroyed.

Fantastic experience! You get to sample 6 different wines, although a couple are the same but from different years. Great way to verify how different a wine can be from one year to the other. While you enjoy your red wines, you get to see where each of them comes from on a local map, and why some are far superior to others, best on their geographical location. It's not just a lesson in oenology, it's also a course on chemistry and history. Damien was absolutely charming and knowledgeable, we are grateful to him for sharing his knwoledge with such passion.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting of 7 wines of varying vineyards around Gevrey-Chambertin. The tour of the caves was fun, and if you purchase a bottle the fee is waived.

They wines here are incredibly overpriced. There is one wine that's sub 20 eur, the rest are conveniently out of stock, and then the price jumps to 35-150 eur a bottle. Whatever we tried was really ordinary. We were told we couldn't pay by card for our tasting either. We wasted about 90 minutes tasting wine because one person was pouring wines at four different tables. The explanations of the wines are limited to what plot they come from and that different vintages are not necessarily better or worse, but just "different". Except that some vintages cost quite a bit more than others. Why is that? Anyway, the guy who explains does his best even if it's clear that they're really short-staffed.

P.s. there's a cellar downstairs that's free to view. It's more of a collection of antiques, taxidermy animals and kitschy artworks but it's a good laugh.

This domain is a very touristic stop. It offers a tasting experience complete and well organized, that can manage large groups, similar to those we´ve tried in Napa, Sonoma, Maipo Valley and Cape Town.
Visitors are welcomed and ushered to start with a visit to the cellars and museum. Then you´re escorted to a table, that can be shared is your group is small. There is a fee for the tasting of 5 wines, that won´t be charged if you buy a bottle.
All other domaines just do the tasting with the tour or the stories.
