It was crowded on the day we went (a Friday), but there were still plenty of chairs available to rent for only $5. It's not a huge beach, but it was beautiful. There were a lot of locals there, mostly selling things, but some also there to enjoy it along with the tourists. They had reggae music playing, and I loved the laid back island vibe. There was a bar there, and several places to get food, and they would bring menus and serve directly to you on the beach, which was very convenient. However, the cocktails were expensive. At Margaritaville, a drink was $10-12, but theirs were $12-15. The only possible negative I can mention is that there were a lot of local vagrants gathered mostly near the entrance to the beach, and just down the road going back to our Margaritaville resort, so if you're walking I wouldn't recommend doing that after sunset.

We went to this beach on a Monday afternoon. It is a small beach and it was also fairly crowded. There was loud music playing too, so don’t expect to be super relaxed.

The staff there are very nice and will make sure you are well fed and have everything you need. Chairs, umbrellas, and other beach items can be rented for a couple bucks.

The water was crystal clear and the scenery was beautiful. There wasn’t much marine life save for a few fish.

Beautiful beach, but we wary of the crowds. We came around 2PM on a Monday, and the beach was VERY crowded. Parking was $5 and was pretty tight (we did come later in the day). We could hardly find a place to sit, and while we were searching for somewhere we kept being approached by several EXTREMELY pushy sales people asking us to buy their jewelry or get our hair braided. When we declined, one woman started being very hostile towards us. This was very overwhelming when we first got there. Since there were so many people, we took shifts watching our belongings, because none of us felt comfortable leaving our bags unattended like we had at Magen’s Bay.

Snorkeling was very cool; there were a few different fish species that we hadn’t seen in Magen’s Bay the day before. We brought out some dog treats to crumble up and feed to the fish, and they swarmed all around us. A very cool experience!

The drink bar right next to the beach was great (a man came around and gave us samples of a frozen banana drink, and we loved it so much that most of us went and bought one). They’ll even let you pour your own rum to top it off. Also, the food stand inside the “building” had great food, honestly the best conch fritters I’ve ever had.

Once a lot of the cruise-goers started to clear out around 3:30-4 PM, it was a much more pleasant experience. I would say go with caution, and make sure you check the cruise ship schedules before heading over here.

Interesting beach, nestled within lots of local food, chairs and trade. The water is one of the nicest places we’ve experienced on the island. Latter in the day, it becomes overwhelming crowed, everyone’s playing music that sounds like hypertension mumbles. No sense in buying a blunt, just inhale.

Awesome Beach, best snorkeling on the island. Get there early for the best spot as the beach gets very crowded because of the snorkeling. We say a ton of sea life, eels, blue tangs, conchs, angel fish, lots of coral, and so may others. Get the dog biscuits at the little shack and feed the fish, they come right up to you and eat the biscuits right out of your had. Chairs and umbrellas can be rented for $5 and $10, but you have them all day. There is a place to get food and drinks that is reasonably priced and they come out to the beach to take your order and bring it to you. Great location and crystal blue waters.

Beautiful beach with great atmosphere. Arrive early if you want to find a place to park and be prepared to pay $5 as there aren’t many free spots. We were greeted immediately by

He was super friendly, not pushy, and got us set up with chairs on the beach. I’d recommend just bringing $5 a person and getting a chair there. But use Coki dive center right next to beach for snorkel gear. They seemed to have better masks. It’s definitely fun to snorkel around the beach area. We got lunch from a beach waitress taking orders for Belinda’s. It was above average beach food and paid about $10-15/pp for lunch. I appreciated the service factor and not having to wait in line or in a crowded environment.

Prior to visiting Coki beach, we had only been on Magens bay beach, which is very big and plenty of room to find solitude. Coki was very different. Beautiful beach, water and scenery. And if you like people watching and engaging with strangers you’ll love it.

We have visited Coki Beach on both of our Virgin Islands trips. It was originally a recommendation from multiple locals, so we knew we had to go!

When walking up to the beach, you’ll see a lot of vendors selling homemade jewelry, flip flops, and your typical beachy things.

Reggae music is played across the beach which adds an extra layer of tropical fun. Coki Beach offers a packaged deal when renting beach equipment. We were able to get an umbrella, two chairs, and two sets of snorkeling equipment for ~60.00.

They also have a strong frozen cocktail menu and great food — the conch fritters were AMAZING! you’ll have your own server that comes and takes your order at your seat and delivers your food and drinks.

Snorkeling at Coki Beach is fun because the fish come up in such shallow water, I feel like this is great for beginners or people who want to relax and also snorkel a little (much less of a commitment compared to the snorkel trail at trunk bay).

Coki Beach is only a three minute walk from Margaritaville, so I was so happy to stay at Margaritaville the second time we visited the Virgin Islands and were able to walk to this beach.

One tip of advice is check with your lobby or concierge on the cruise schedule. Coki Beach is a cruise ship day destination!

Coki Beach is also located next to Coral World Ocean Park.

I would say the first visit to Coki Beach (2017) had much softer sand in the water. We visited in 2019 after the hurricanes and it seemed as though the hurricanes moved the natural elements around - there were more pebbles and and small rocks in the water the next time around, but still amazing and enjoyable!

I hope you enjoy Coki beach!

We walked from Margaritaville. As soon as you get there guys are hassling you about chairs and umbrellas, we wanted them so it wasn't the end of the world, 3 chairs and an umbrella were $25 to rent. The beach isn't very deep but it is long, the water and view is amazing. The water was refreshingly cool while we were there, and no seaweed on the beach. There are shops, snorkel rentals, and places to eat and drink, drinks took a long time when we ordered from a waitress walking the beach. The guys putting down chairs and umbrellas really pack you in close and they played really loud music, I like Reggae but the music was bad.

My buddy and I picked a day during our week in St Thomas to spend on Coki Beach. We first visited and went through "Coral World", then picked up our snorkel gear included in our admission tickets and went down to the beach. Coki Beach is known from the outside as the "Weed Beach". And almost like a greeter as we walked down the wooden staircase from the dive stand to the beach there was very talkative local holding court smoking a blunt. Just made me laugh as we weren't even on the sand yet. lol I know this upsets some people, but it's the reality. Besides, it's gonna be legal practically everywhere soon, so it's time to get over it. Now it's not like the entire beach smells of marijuana, it's just not a big deal there and everyone pretty much looks the other way to it all. So, I bought a bag (you probably will be asked) and did like the locals. lol We rented a couple lounge chairs and hung out for the day. The snorkeling along both sides of the bay is actually pretty good at Coki, so if you're going it's worth checking out. I really like the waitress coming and taking orders on the beach and then delivering them. The drink tray she carries and beer belt she wears are truly a sight to see. Give that girl a raise! We had a couple waters and the Fish Tacos. I kid you not, they were the best Fish Tacos we had during our entire week. Definitely worth trying!

Coki beach has many pros and cons:

Pros:

Absolutely pristine water
Hundreds of colorful fish waist deep that come right up to you (you can buy food and feed them, which my kids loved.)
Excellent snorkeling for kids since it’s so shallow and clear
Chairs and umbrellas available
Friendly people

Cons:

Crowded!
Some litter scattered around the beach
LOUD music with sirens after every song- (this may be a pro for some if this is your thing)

If you want a really great snorkel and/or shore dive, get there early! Like 8:30am and leave by 11 when it gets crowded. If you just want to relax on a quiet beach, this is not for you. If you like a party-ish vibe and want loud music, this is a great spot for you! All depends on what you want! I’d highly suggest for the snorkeling, especially for kids- just get there early and leave early!
