This ruin of a Chateau is well preserved. It looks like there has been recent work undertaken on preserving the castle. There were also a few notice boards which confirmed that further work on the castle will be taking place.
The few information boards dotted about the castle help you visual what it would have looked like.
The view from the castle over the river and port is beautiful. Well worth a visit even just for this.
Parking is free and so is entry to the castle. It's a short walk from the cap park over rough ground (not ideal for pushchairs).

This beautiful castle or what's left of it offers an amazing view over the river, the tiny port and surrounding areas.
You immediately feel like being pulled back into the middle ages. A lot of the castle is ruined due to the fights that took place here but what's left of the castle gives you a great impression about how it was back in the day.
I've been here a few times and every time something was being restored. The castle will probably never be completely restored, but it's still worth a visit if this is this is on your route. A visit will take you approx. 1 hour.
There's no entrance fee and you can visit every part of it freely. There are a few signs that give an explanation of some rooms and areas. You can also visit this with a guide, on the entrance the guide tour hours are stated. The signs at the site give you a good eplanation about everything that happened here during the past 800 years.

From the tower of the castle you have an amazing view over the bay. It's pretty spectacular to see the difference between high and low tides, the bay completely dries out when it's low tide. There’s a walking route the runs around the castle and over the surrounding fields.

There is plenty of parking space on approx. 50 meters walking from the Castle.
This is also a perfect place for a picnic if you visit something else nearby. If you're in the area I recommend a short visit, but it's probably not worth a detour since pretty much everything of this castle is destroyed.

Visited here but unfortunately due to an ongoing archaeological dig access to the fort was not possible. A little disappointing as we were looking forward to a view across the bay from here which I would imagine would be quite spectacular.
The short walk from the car park to the fort was very pretty due to the abundance of the multitude of wild flowers in bloom

This castle ruins is free to enter at anytime. It has been restored but, to my mind, too substantially. The up-side of that is that it is easier to visualise the original. It is a good place to explore with good views from the walls

Just enough left to be interesting and to allow comparison between U.K. and French approaches to conserving their collapsing castles. Let’s just say the French seem more pragmatic et les Anglais a bit more purist: If concrete stops it falling down then what’s wrong with concrete. Take a walk round the outside of the ruins onto the rocky headland opposite, great view back to the castle.

Beautiful views to do at low tide and high tide, the scenery is beautiful, the castle ruins are impressive but there is not much to do except to take in the history. We had a nice walk. Beautiful with the sun!

Very beautiful ruins, where you can walk around freely, thank you for allowing free access to the public, the only downside is the parking, which is difficult to access for large people, of the van type.

There are only 4 walls left...so not much to visit. It takes at most 15 minutes....A little difficult to find.
