We like to be spontaneous when we travel.
When we got off our Carnival Cruise at the La Romana port, we decided to go Zip Lining. We called 4 different zip lining companies, and when they found out we were from Carnival, we were told they couldn't sell to us because they were under contracts (talk about unfair business practices!!)
I read a review about Wild Ranch Zipline Canopy, and decided to call.
From the moment I spoke to Rosella, I felt completely comfortable and instinctively knew I could trust her.
We took a taxi from the cruise port ($60 USD return) - it was about 25 minutes to the main town of Santa Cruz de Gato). Here, we were dropped off and then Rosella sent a driver in a heavy duty truck fo take us to the ranch - due to really rough terrain (The kids loved it!).
About 15 minutes, and we were at the Ranch. We were met personally by the lovely Rosella, and offered juice and fresh ice cold water.
We were then quickly outfitted, and our personal belongings were safely locked up.
Carlos and Frank conducted a short safety briefing and took us through our journey over 7 ziplines. Along the way, we walked through lush rainforest and they pointed out various interesting plants and trees.
Once complete, we got to spend some time on the balancing course, and also got to kayak down the river nearby!
Rosella arranged an amazing lunch of local fare, before taking us back to the town to meet our taxi driver.
An amazing facility, great for families with younger children (9 and 7) - surpassed only by the gracious hospitality of Rosella and her crew.

Getting here was entertaining since we did not use a tour company... We arrived without making a reservation or calling ahead, but that was no issue at all. The staff was very friendly and cheery... They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The sights were beautiful from the various viewpoints and the ziplines were very exciting. The location doubles as an animal rescue shelter so there are a few geese and dogs roaming around... all are friendly and well cared for. This was well worth the trip!

First time I've ever been ziplining. I couldn't have picked a better place. The property is remote, unspoiled and absolutely beautiful. The guides are patient and well trained. I am actually terrified to drive across bridges and I felt very safe. It is a first class operation. The owner came out to greet us upon our arrival and welcome us. There were 7 lines. We were picked up from the cruise port in La Romana and driven directly to Wild Ranch. Our guide actually pointed out some cocoa beans growing on one of the trees on our walk up to the first line. After completing all 7 lines, we had some time to go kayaking down the Chavon River. Wow, what a view! Absolutely breathtaking. I only wish that I had my camera, but I didn't want to get it wet. After kayaking, we were treated to some fresh sliced coconut, mango, chocolate and drinks at a beautiful patio overlooking the river. This was so worth the money. This was the best excursion of our cruise and I would love to go back. Our driver got us back to the ship well before sailing time.

our group of 5 truly enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. the truck to take us to the ranch was punctual, the staff very friendly and helpful, the zipline super safe (more than others we had gone to), the kayaking was so fun in a beautiful setting. and the food so abundant and delicious (I don't know what was best ..the shrimps or the fish, there were about 8 dishes!!! we learned a lot from our guides (plants), it was wonderful to be by ourselves and to enjoy the beautiful landscape with extra activities (all very safe). a great place to go . Thank you Rossella for organizing it!

My wife and I took the zipline tour in April on our trip. Hands down the best tour we took. The property is amazing with beautiful views from the tree tops. The staff really made us feel like family and took great care of us. The kayaking down the river was a great end to the zipline tour. We will definitely be do this tour again if we make it back to the Dominican!

A highlight of our trip! The friendly staff were great hosts. The zip tour was complimented nicely with a tour of the reserve. The perfect educational adventure for the kids. Homemade jelly, chocolate and cake with fresh coconut on the terrace was the perfect finish. Unforgettable ! Thank you Rosella, Mackenzi and the rest of the guides.

We had an awesome day at the wild ranch! It was our first time for ziplining, but the staff was super friendly and explained everything well, so we weren't afraid. It was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed the different ziplines. Also the trip with the kayak on the river chavon was really great. We can recommend the tour!

My family and I (Wife and 3 kids ages: 9, 7 and 4), did a half day excursion at Wild Ranch. We ziplined 9 different zip lines with the kids (the 4 year old was accompanied throughout with another adult). We had a BLAST. Since it was 1/2 day trip it was not overwhelming for the kids and really enjoyable under the shade of the trees. The staff was awesome and it was fun to be active and engaged. At the end of the zip lining, we jumped in a kayak and paddle about for about 30 minutes. Ideally we would have been able to swim around but the recent rains made it undoable. At the end of the trip,we were offered a CD with multiple JPGs of our adventure. It was worth every penny and my kids felt safe, challenged and excited throughout the entire excursion.
We booked the excursion through ProExcursions since we are staying an apartment in Bayahibe. The drive to the Wild Ranch in Santa Cruz de Gato was 40 minutes aboard a pickup truck of sorts. We brought water and snacks for kids. The staff provided water and coffee upon arrival. At the end of the kayaking we were offered fruit, pound cake and water. Again, it was a great trip. (FYI - we were told that the full day excursion included ATVs and also included a lunch).

Fun, fun and more fun. The owner and staff are wonderful. All are very friendly and made sure we were safe during the ziplining, rappelling, walking accross a rope bridge, and kayaking. A great way to spend the afternoon. All of the activities were oustanding.
Highly recommended.

If you are ready for a true jungle zip line, this is the place for you. It's a bumpy keep ride through the jungle to get there but well worth it. The lines are great and the guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Safety is important to them yet they are fun and very helpful and hospitable.
