Get away from the main island of Malta in search of sea and sunshine on this tour from Bugibba. Visit the Crystal Lagoon (if traveling in June-October), followed by the Blue Lagoon on Comino for swimming and snorkeling. This is a nice spot to stop if you’re in the area and want to get a pretty view. The entrance is a bit hidden so keep your eyes peeled. The tower itself isn’t much to see but it has certain historical value. If you have little kids who need a break from car rides to stretch their legs and run around, this would be good, safe spot to do it.

In some ways, Għallis Tower (Torri tal-Għallis in Maltese) is one of the most accessible De Redin towers, just off the coastal road, unfortunately though if you're driving, you can only turn off when you're heading from Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq to Bugibba. If you enjoy walking, there's a track that goes from Maghtab right up to the rear of the tower. The tower was the second one that Martin De Redin had commissioned, and the oldest one still standing. Like most of the towers on the island, Għallis Tower is built on great vantage point with lovely views out to sea.

As you head north to Qawra on the new coast road you will see It - Torri tal - Ghallis on your left. Shortly after the brown tourist attraction zign there is a small opening in the wall onto a rough track, this will allow you to get off the coast road and park. A two minute walk and you are below and next to the tower. Build of pale coloured stone and about 40 mtrs high it is quite impressive close up. From my understanding many of these watchtowers were built by the of Knights of St John to warn the Mdina of possible invasion. The signal was a beacon lit in a chain of these watchtowers. Worth half an hour to go and see one of these towers close up. If you visit this particular one, be careful hour you rejoin the coast road as traffic is fast along part of the coast road.
