I was in Sri Lanka for 8 days in early August with my friends. As
an Indian I thought Sri Lanka would be very similar to India in terms of culture, landscapes and the people. I seem to have grossly understated the country. Though there is an overlap, the country has some striking differences to India. Sri Lankans, probably one of the most lovely set of people I have come across in all my travels and Ranil is a true representation of the country and its people.
I started my trip from Kandy having booked two day trips with two different people, Ranil guiding me on the second day. The first person cancelled late in the evening, the previous day and I called up Ranil for damage control. He was more than willing to show us around after yielding to every request we had. He’s very knowledgeable, understanding and most of all patient and easy to talk to. He showed us around Nuwara Eliya, Sigiriya and Dambulla.
The highlight of our experience with Ranil was the ‘Mangosteen Episode’. My love for Mangosteens knows no bounds and Ranil went around for over 1.5 hours to almost 15 stores looking for the fruit. In my experience, any other guide would get infuriated and give up. Ranil kept going before we found one store and managed to pack close to 5 kilos.

I highly recommend a trip to the country and with Ranil to show you around, more so. You will not be disappointed and will appreciate the country having a local give you perspective. Sri Lanka is a highly underrated nation in my view and one will find treasures which are a feast to the eyes.

I did with Ranjl the Sigiriya and Dumballa tour. He is a very flexible, friendly, qualified guide. He brought me to every place in the exact time, when there is not too much people and the weather is perfect for make photos and see the things! He made me feel always appeased and he gave me good advice also for other activities. Highly recommended

The weather is unforgiving on the day of my tour with Ranil. It’s raining cats and dogs almost the whole day.
Nevertheless, we manage to visit Sigiriya Rock and I reached the ‘summit’ during the 2 hours rain-break.
We also visited Dambulla Caves and a few other local temples.
The most memorable was the floods, cutting off our main and alternative road back to Kandy, causing us to take a longer detour driving thru villages.
Overall, Ranil did a excellent job explaining historical moment on each attractions.
After the trip, we went above and beyond in providing and sending me info of places to visit in Nuwara Eliya when he knew i am going the next day. Thumbs up!

We had the most wonderful time in our Sri Lankan honeymoon with the excellent guidance of dears Ranil an Dushan. It’s a beautiful and surprising country with its tea plantation slopes, its lakes and rivers where buffalos and elephants would go drink and have a walk, right in front of your car; its white sand beaches and for architecture lovers the outsanding work of the greatest Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. Last but not the least, the simple, honest and lovely people who live in this country. We highly recommend a long visit and we are surely comming back.

Ranil took us to Nuara Eliya, the waterfalls, we visited a tea factory, a spice garden, a hindu temple, tasted a king coconut alongside the road, .. it was a truly enjoyable day. What I personally appreciated the most was the fact that Ranil has an open and matter of fact way of telling about his country. As if you were spending the day with a good acqaintance. We have learned a lot that day in an easygoing way. To be recommanded !

Our first trip to Sri Lanka in 2014 over a period of 2 weeks was remarkable. Friendly, hospitable Sri Lankans. Ranil and Inoka opened their home to us and every morning, bird calls greeted us. The surrounding is quiet and certainly a welcome contrast from the bustling Kandy town.

After daily visits to Kandy, we look forward to coming home and experience Inoka's home cooked dishes. Highly recommended for people who are keen to experience homestay experience in Kandy.
