The owners successfully accommodated us for two nights whilst we attended a nearby wedding. We had never stayed in a B&B before and didn't know what to expect. The breakfasts were brilliant with homemade gluten free bread and they had even got some koko milk in for our little one. Mike even stayed up to receive us when we arrived... More

Thank you for your review. If I understand you correctly it was that fact that you were sharing a house with strangers that was uncomfotable rather than the accommodation itself. I can understand how you might have felt as it was a bit odd to us at first having complete strangers stay here. Of course, after so many years we... More

My wife and I paid a visit this weekend and both thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our stay included: - Introduction to astronomy course - accommodation for one evening - breakfast We received a warm welcome on our arrival and were offered tea and coffee while Mike set up his projector and presentation. The course itself was an excellent introduction to... More

Dean Thank you for your very positive review and we are so pleased you found your visit useful. It was unfortunate that the clouds came in after sunset. I hope you will be able to use some of your new knowledge with the binoculars we gave as a free gift. It was a shame you could only stay one night... More

If you are keen on Astronomy and want to go to a place with dark skies, comfy beds, nutritious food and someone to guide you around the night sky then this is it. Mike is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about astronomy and Helen is an excellent cook. One tip if visiting in the winter. Bring lots of warm clothes, thick... More

Thank you for the very postive review. I was so pleased you had lovely clear skies. Although there is a mention of warm clothing on the website, you have made me think I should make visitors aware of the need for it. In the countryside it can get quite cold at night even in the late summer. More

I would thoroughly recommend the Galloway Astronomy Centre. Mike and Helen make you so welcome and you feel part of the family as they join you for meals which are homemade by Helen - great lemon meringue pie. Mike's knowledge and enthusiasm for astronomy is infectious.

Thanks for the great review for both astronomy and Helen's cooking. We were so pleased that we could show you not only the Lunar Eclipse but the lovely starry sky too. Hope you get to be a TV star! best regards Mike More

Went back to the Galloway Astronomy Centre to mark the1 year anniversary of my husband's death with my child who is autistic. I have named a star for him, and it helps my boy cope with his death. This year they also welcomed my dog. Can't rave enough! So knowledgeable and patient. And cope great with food allergies! Highly recommended

We were moved that you wanted you visited us again especially at a rather sad time and pleased that it helped you and your son. Happily, we managed to arrange for 3 clear nights to view the star. We look forward to seeing you both again. best wishes Mike More

If you're interested in Astronomy, in my opinion ignore the Dark Sky Park to the north and come here instead - for these reasons:- 1. It feels darker here than the Dark Sky Park itself, you have the sea on three sides and the nearest town is about 20 miles away. 2. You have a place where you can comfortably... More

Thank you for the positive comments. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the things we do here. Plus most importantly you had one clear night to see our lovely dark skies. Sadly, we have to be a long way from civilization to give you the access to such dark skies which for you means a long... More

Cannot rave enough! Well catered for with an autistic child with very fussy eating. Huge portion sizes. Spent a lot of time showing stars, planets, galaxies, the space station. My son's dad died recently and had a star named in his memory. Mike (the owner) found the star, and made sure my son saw it on both nights of our... More

Very basic accommodation, cold house and fire was not lit. We had evening meal option; don't, there are nearby pubs that do food. Main meal must have contained <400 calories; one potato, a few slices of cooked ham and veg, as plain as could be. The owner's entry re food is misleading i am afraid. Serving half a slice of...
